Folks, Any thoughts on this statement from the "Where would you invest most money in Aug 2015?" thread over in the general forum? I don't think people realize how unbelievably risky Savings Stream is. <removed by mod>

Call me old fashioned, but I was brought up to believe that if you were to make such a statement then a little evidential support might just lend some weight; otherwise it could be viewed as opinion and at best irresponsible.

I'm sure most investors realise there is risk involved, which is why you should never invest more than you can afford to lose, especially as SS is not covered by the FSCS. But many savers are forced to take risks with their money due to the scandalous rates being offered by the banks and building societies. Investing in the stock market is a risk. Stocks & Share ISA's are a risk also.

As a statement it is also a little ambiguous - taken literally, it suggests that presently there are no platform risks at all, and that what's imminent is the appearance of some risk. Risk, in itself, is fairly benign - it's when it materialises into reality that you need to be wary.
With all that said, it would be nice to understand the concerns behind what is quite an inflammatory and dangerous statement.

The same poster has also questioned the risk level of RS, arguably one of the safest p2p options.
Makes me wonder whether he has ulterior motivation.

[Mod hat on] Sorry folks, I've taken the decision to lock this thread and moderate some of the content. The post quoted from the other thread is "potentially libelous" and the whole discussion may need moderating away completely. It would therefore help the moderation team if discussion of this post was happening in just one thread.
