Given the current situation: Lack of deal-flow Repaid Loans Monthly Interest Obvious Demand / Shark Pool SM Ever increasing no. of investors (>6100 now) Does anyone care to guess what the current pre-fund level, for a %age allocation > £1k loan might be? (Meaning the loan size where you'd get 100% of a non-gaming honest bid ) £3 M ? £3.5 M ? more ?

Mine is £2.5m assuming that the loans come in an orderly ie staggered fashion. Two or three together might finally overwhelm the SM bots etc.

In view of the £3M of recently repaid loans, I'd say "more". I think I'd guess £5M. That's a nice round number!

So do we now understand the allocation algorithm- what SS described as "Bottom up"? The smallest bids are filled upwards until there is not enough left to cover the next bid level, then the remainder is divided amongst everyone else but rounded down to £100. The residue is put up in a lump for the fastest finger/bot. Being a newbie to SS, I cannot find any details on their website regarding the details behind pre funding. Within this thread I found this quote with some subsequent comments which seem to imply that SS have recently changed the allocation method. Is the quote above the way that prefunding now works or was it just mooted? If so, I assume that because of the recent famine, it has not yet been tried and tested on a live loan. Could someone please confirm my understanding or explain how the prefunding allocation works? Thanks Spiral

Loans larger than 1m apply the old system; the way that investments are allocated (for loans over 1m) is shown in the chart below Attachments:

Loans larger than 1m apply the old system; the way that investments are allocated (for loans over 1m) is shown in the chart below Thanks for the response. Glad I asked now as my understanding was way off. So AIUI for a loan of 1m Example 1. if 1000 people bid £2000, everyone would get £1000. Simples. Example 2. If 250 people bid £100 ,250 people bid £1000 , 250 bid £2000 and 250 bid £3000 there are 1000 people that want a slice so that averages out to £1000 each but as 250 people only wanted £100 they get that and the remaining 750 go to round 2 for the remaining 975K i.e. they get allotted £1300 each. Again, as 250 only wanted £1000 it goes to round 3 with the remaining 500 investors getting equal shares i.e. £1450 of the remaining £725K. Is that correct? As for the pyramid, I've absolutely no idea what that is trying to show. Where on earth is this info displayed/explained on the website?

The information is here savingstream.co.uk/documents/prefunding.pdf , I have this link in an email, and I think I used to be able to get to it from the pre-fund page, but I clicked something off and can no longer access it that way.

Mmm, I also can't see a way to link through the website (the link works great though). Are there any other useful documents on the "documents" page that should be available to all investors through the website? I can't just go to savingstream.co.uk/documents to see them as I get a 403 forbidden error.

OK, having digested that, I'm comfortable with what that says (still don't understand the pyramid though) but where does the 1m limit come from? That isn't mentioned in the document, it reads as if it applies to all loans . That then leads me to how are loans above 1m distributed if not the same? Sorry for all the questions but this should be clearly explained on the website which as far as explaining the mechanics of how SS works is about as useful as a chocolate teapot.

That then leads me to how are loans above 1m distributed if not the same? The old-style way - if there's four times as much money wants in as the loan can take, then everybody gets 25%. At least, that's the way we THINK it'll work. It's all a bit of a moving target, because SS keep tickling it to try to address the problems and gripes that have arisen when human factors get mixed up with the reality of each loan launching.

SS generally can be quite lax when it comes to info on the site. Most is sent out via email and here on the forum so in time you'll be up to speed. The pyramid is just describing the bottom up approach whereby all smaller investors get their full desired amount with the big hitters taking up the slack... if necessary, but it only applies to <£1m loans and was going to be the only method of distribution last summer ish but was altered before it was set live. All the changes have been a bit ad-hoc, in response to perceived desires and changing investor tactics that gamed the system. <sheepishly raises hand>
Loans above £1m are distributed on the basis of a % of your pre-funded amount, e.g. £2m loan with a total prefund pot from all investors combined of £2.5m would mean everyone would get 80% of their pre-funded amount allocated to them. It does mean that the gaming tactics are still in play for say £1m - £2m loans where it's still desirable to increase your pre-funding a bit to try and hit the amount you want. How long will that continue before the goal posts are moved again ??

Are the micro, small, medium, large and largest limits defined anywhere? Or is there a formula based on the loan size? Or is it a case of Secret Squirrel?

To be fair to SS they have made changes in response to requests, mainly on this forum. We have, to a considerable degree, what we asked for - even though in some cases we now realise that we didn't anticipate the consequences.
