Have I read somewhere that Chris is in a board meeting? If so, and this is not a personal attack on Chris, then whose bright idea was it to tie up the Technical Director when there are major changes to the website taking place? Possibly back-to-front. The board meeting will have been arranged ages ago, the update is late, and Chris is about to go on holiday. It might have been wiser to delay the update until his return.

So, in view of previous problems with updates, whose bright idea was it to proceed with this one?

The problem seems to be now that the account has reached the £1 million maximum, the database won't you let you add funds. I'm getting the same error chris. I've £50 idle in my MLIA lent to the QAA (which is set to sweep up all idle funds), and when I try to add £6 from my Cash Account, the database says "No", presumably because if I add my £6 to the £50 in the MLIA but held in the QAA it would exceed £1mill. I would expected the system to have actually moved the £50 to the QAA (but displayed in the QAA as allocated to MLIA investments), so that the £6 could be put in the MLIA. It's a shame as the ideas are good, and it was going well until we hit this issue.

I've now managed to add my funds a little at a time. I eventually found that the £6 I was trying to add from my Cash Account to my MLIA was in fact split with £1.71 already held in the QAA on behalf of the Cash Account, and the rest actual free cash (from a withdrawal from the GBBA), and it seems not to have coped with this.

Are you sure its holiday that Chris is going on? If he worked for me he would have been on gardening leave long ago!! Sorry. but I think that is completey unfair and uncalled for. So not everything has gone completely to plan, but in most major IT changes they do not. I think the scale of the change and the complexity of the vision behind it is very impressive and I think chris has done a fantastic job, including the roll back and redeployment. So merlin if you were in charge of IT at AC and sent Chris on gardening leave just what type of person would you replace him with. How many £M would you have to pay to get someone, or a team, that could do a better job? Which p2p sites do you think have better, more innovative and better managed IT? Have you been an IT manager? I have.

(I'll change good to outstanding if you enable the sale of loans with "events")

Regardless of judgement on job well done or not, personally directed attacks of this form are inappropriate. they don't fall into the 'polite and constructive' category. Esp. when aimed at an individual who is a regular reader and contributor to the forum. merlin: its a bit late to ask you to edit as its been re-tweeted several times. However you might think it appropriate to consider whether some followup post would be appropriate. We are all subject to occassionaly saying things in the heat of the moment.

AC is a small company and going through small company issues. The idea of one of the large banks doing a code release in the middle of a working day for example, is very very unlikely. Or at least not one which requires a complete outage.
That said, part of the risk of p2p is platform risk. Look at the threads on FC about website issues for context.
Personally I've no major issues with the AC IT approach this week to date. A full database revision and tweak etc isn't the end of the world. That said, my opinion may change as the week progresses.
i agree on some of the points on testing, you can never have too much. AC cannot be criticised for a lack of ambition though.
my only other thought, is does AC have a keyman issue in Chris, ie a dependency on him and if so how do they cope in his absence?

I have. I started my career in Data Processing as it was then called in 1965. In 1968 to 1970 I worked as a machine code programmer on the Apollo Missions for NASA where my specialisation was Life Support Systems. Since then I have been actively involved in the development of all sorts of digital and IT systems including military and civil applications both in the UK and the USA. Now although well beyond normal retirement age I maintain an interest in several IT businesses and my colleagues claim that I am a good judge of people. Yes IT has always been fraught with cock-ups and sometimes outright failures simply because often it is breaking new ground. However in my opinion AC have developed an unenviable track record of failure in the IT arena. So much so that I pulled most of my investment out of AC long ago, although I am stuck with a number of defaulted loans that I cannot sell.

I’m not criticising the individual but the lack of forethought on the part of the board, you still can’t escape the fact that the technical director is in a meeting which is downright barmy when what appears to be a major update is taking place.
But then again, in my experience, many company directors and IT departments are out of touch with the operational and production side of a business.
And before anyone objects to that comment, I reiterate that it is not an attack on any individual(s) althought to quote an old saying, if the cap fits, wear it.

Can someone please explain to me exactly how this is supposed to work.
Yesterday I transferred £25k into QAA (so i was within the first 100k deposited, both on the first attempt and then after the roll back). Now it says I have a direct investment of £25k in the QAA. It does not however show any amount 'awaiting investment' or 'currently invested' as it does on the GBBA or GEIA. When I look at 'Your transactions' I can see my deposit but no other transactions.
Does this mean a) my £25k is in the account earning interest straight away or b) I am 100% uninvested and in a queue?
There doesn't seem to be any explanation as to how this is working (or if there is I can't find it).

I have funds in my cash account but the system won't transfer them to my MLIA.
THERE HAS BEEN AN ERROR: THERE WAS AN ERROR, PLEASE TRY AGAIN.
Anyone else?
