Expansion and Growth?

Looking at the SME loans, the titles have become meaningless and boring, with none of the puns we used to enjoy so much - eggspansion I recall. So many seem to be 'Expansion and Growth', just distinguished by the loan number. Never just expansion, never just growth. What is the difference between expansion and growth?  In the human context it might be the difference between fatter and taller, but for a business both expansion and growth are good, it seems, and indistinguishable, inseparable. Looking at the pitches - I appreciated 'we wish to expand into hot tubs' which conjured a dubious mental image - generally there seems to be little difference except that expansion might sometimes mean diversification. If so please say diversification for a change. Some applicants are doing neither expansion nor growth, though many seem to need working capital which of course implies growth or you would not need it. Some are updating machinery, one has been kicked out of his premises and needs a bit more cash. One wishes to do 'aggressive marketing', which is more suited to charities nowadays. It's all 'expansion and growth'.
What's the point of these titles? I don't think Autobid takes much notice of the titles. I suppose if they just had numbers another shed load of investor-lenders would leave.
