Very slow page loading for me too. The longest part of the wait is "waiting for anvil.rubiconproject, com" which is something to do with advertising cookies.
I have an ad blocker installed. Is it possible the advertisers are fighting back by making me wait?

Seems normal this afternoon but in deepest Herefordshire connected by tin cans and tight string.

Is it possible the advertisers are fighting back by making me wait? I use a Firefox add-on called Ghostery. If I look at which trackers it is disabling for this page, the list include Rubicon. If I tell it to allow Rubicon, the page is indeed very slow to load. With trackers blocked (as usual) the page load time is back to normal.

Loading pages on all the threads was glacially slow all mornng, and is still almost unusable now. Something is throttling the system!

Additionally, why, when using Firefox, if you quote another post do you get a load of gobbledygook and why no emoticons / smileys? This doesn’t occur in IE or Chrome.

yorkshireman: 1. I don't get the gobbledegook in Firefox and I do get smileys. 2. In Firefox: Tools menu > Add-ons > search for Ghostery > Install

Just installed it on Chrome and it works a treat, these pages load at normal speeds now - thanks for the heads up on this

So what has changed for the forum since yesterday when everything worked quickly? A compulsory update which has a bug in it?
edit: I have just enabled my adblock, so now all works properly in Firefox. I now get this message at the top of the page:
"Please consider supporting this website by disabling your ad-blocker. This website does not use audio ads, popups, or other annoyances. Thank you!"
Well there has been an annoyance today!
