Hi there,
I am in the fortunate position of having a fairly large amount of capital to invest in P2P as I sold one of my businesses very recently. I have seen some excellent results with P2P over the past year and an currently looking at how I should structure my investments as things are getting more serious and the amount of profit generated is climbing monthly.
My P2P investments have in fact been going so well that I would like to start making it one of my primary sources of income starting from next year and so would like to register and start investing through a Limited Company.
I currently have fairly large investments in several platforms totalling in the high 6 figures (and with more available to invest further when I resolve this situation) which are tied up to varying degrees on platforms ranging in liquidity (although the majority is in platforms like SS and FS which are 6 - 12 month loans or have a reasonably liquid secondary market.
Because it would be advantageous for tax planning reasons (I have several other forms of income from businesses), around the beginning of the next tax year in April I want to register and transfer my investments to a company.
However because I have invested all of this initial capital personally, I need to find the best way to either extract this capital back from the platforms and re-invest under the company name, or transfer the investments over to my company in a different way. I am happy to keep my level of investment the same (in fact I would like to increase it), it's just that I need to transfer the holdings over to the company and not my personal name.
So my question is - would I need to slowly start selling my loan parts / pulling my investments over the next six months and then re-invest it back under the new company? Or is there perhaps an alternative that I am missing?
Would there be any way to transfer my existing investment accounts over to the company perhaps?
I will need to physically send the money from a company bank account for accounting purposes and so I was wondering if there was anyway I could perhaps send the same value of XXX,XXX to each platform that I currently have invested with them from the company, and then ask them to send the personal capital back to me in exchange to my personal account and change the name of my account to the business - or is this just wishful thinking?
Would love to get some feedback from anyone who might have some advice....
Thanks a lot for your help.
