Is there a way to determine the loan details url from the loan Id?
I'm trying to find details of a loan that's defaulted, that I don't hold, so I can't find it by finding a loan part on the secondary market.

I'm trying to find details of a loan that's defaulted, that I don't hold, so I can't find it by finding a loan part on the secondary market. If you previously held the loan, you'll find a link on your "loan parts sold" subpage. If you don't hold, and never held the loan, FC's systems will assume that you have no legitimate interest in it, and therefore block access to the loan details page even if you can determine the URL (the same is also true of non-defaulted loans with no parts for sale on the secondary market).

Depending what details you want there are a few details in the loanbook which you can download from the Statistics page.
(I'm sure when I first downloaded it a couple of years ago there used to be a lot more information about the borrower.)

If you post the loan id here, then the unofficial but Fulsomely Creditable archivist GSV may help.

You are also allowed to look at the loan if you bid on it, even if all your bids were subsequently knocked out ( you'd have to find it in your rejected bids list though, which can be a pain [Edit: as sl75 says, accepted loans aren't here so you'd need the URL from elsewhere]) or if you put it in your watch list, even if you didn't place a bid (but unless it was still in your watch list you'd need someone to provide the URL of the loan page).

In particular, this would imply you would never find a bid you made on a defaulted loan there... Edit: although I believe you are correct about the "viewing permission" - i.e. that (if you can find a link) you'd be able to see the loan if you bid on it, even if the bid didn't convert to a loan part.

As someone said, if you post the loan number I can (probably) tell you the URL, but that doesn't mean you can get to it (unless you had bid, have it on your watchlist, etc). I don't know about all the loans that ever were, but I have a large collection now (and having bid on many of them I can even get the comments).
