Hi, I restarted (on FC) in earnest in September so I don't know what happens with Bank Holidays. Would you expect an auction starting on Friday to be longer than 7 days? There will be no one in the office to process it at the time it ends.
More generally do you think FC might list some 14 day auctions over Christmas, or is there something else unusual that might happen?

It'll be situation normal.
Actually, with nobody in the office, things might work more smoothly.

More generally do you think FC might list some 14 day auctions over Christmas, or is there something else unusual that might happen? Generally the clock stops as normal after 7 days. Then it just takes even longer before the loan completes or cancels. The most unusual thing would be if interest repayments were credited on the right day and we didn't end up with pages and pages of Processing loans into the New Year. But, of course, that's just fantasy.

With the new fixed rate "auctions", the specified duration becomes less relevant - only very rarely would the auction be open for bidding even close to the deadline.
In previous years, however, auctions launched exactly 7 days before Christmas were indeed finishing right in the middle of Christmas dinner (with FC addicts continuing to place bids at the dinner table).

I suppose it's theoretically possible that somebody posing as FC Finance could be buying a few hundred loan parts on their laptop while the Queen is on. But I'll be surprised if there's anything to bid on.
What they call a good time to bury bad news. Offer the dogs as WLs on Friday, launch them as rejects on Monday, cap lifts on Wednesday, watch how fast they go.

We look forward to Xmas as the time to sell old property loan parts profitably. My role model, Jacob Marley. He never sold out on his principles - like that weak-minded turncoat Ebenezer Scrooge did.

If only we could offer our in-laws for sale on a secondary market on Christmas day...

If only we could offer our in-laws for sale on a secondary market on Christmas day... What might be an appropriate premium/ discount for a low yielding in law, minimal age since draw down, quite a lot of time until full maturity?

It would need to be a huge discount Jonah, and I hope there was a sufficient dowry on marriage to cover such liabilities. Try a different approach - you could take the in-law on a personal whale-watching holiday, up close.

If only we could offer our in-laws for sale on a secondary market on Christmas day... It could become a whole new seasonal tradition - flipping the in-laws on Christmas day.
