A great milestone to hit just before Christmas (I'm sure that to some extent they "timed it" that way). Puts them in a strong position for a big marketing push early next year ahead of the new ISAs. Well done Foundation Completed!

Well done Foundation Completed! As lenders we should wait to celebrate the £1 billion repaid, rather than £1 billion lent - that is the real achievement.

I've heard it on 'good authority' that in way of celebrating this milestone FC will by giving 2% cash back on every new loan listed on Friday this week.

One billion is a really great achievement. Well done FC. It is and it is part of the reason I have substantially increased my FC holding over the last 4 months. I can diversify easily and I think that the platform seems reasonably secure. Sure you can earn more by lending to some platform in Hungary or Bulgaria denominated in Forint, lent to people in Norway secured on property located in Portugal, but is it worth it for an extra 2%?

Don't get me wrong I too have increased my investment as I think the platform is the solidest thing around with an abundance of loans. However, I think the lunge for the line over the last few months may well have repercussions - in that the quality of some unsecured A+ loans I have bothered to look at is truly scary.

I agree with that. I am trying to buy a bit of everything that looks better than average. (Average being the existing loans that I can see.) I have rejected over 71% of SME A+ loans in the last month.

I have also hit a new 'height' today - 22% recoveries (that is until Thursday and possible defaults).

Surely Father Christmas is too busy to do defaults on Christmas Eve!

Surely Father Christmas is too busy to do defaults on Christmas Eve! I wouldn't put any money on it (and I've got an ever growing pot following lots of sales this morning but nowt to invest in).

Congratulations to Funding Circle? The new set-up seems to be successful enough, but I find it dumbed down and cheerless. A churning out of numerous loans that are 'under graded', pathetic business profiles, meaningless Q&A's, grim interest rates, and I could go on... Great if you don't want to think, but then why bother, when you have Zopa and Ratesetter? I continue reinvesting with increasing reluctance.

Great if you don't want to think, but then why bother, when you have Zopa and Ratesetter? I continue reinvesting with increasing reluctance. The thing is that people like us are very much in the minority, the silent majority unfortunately just want to put their money in and walk away with a better interest rate than they would get at a bank. FC will obviously do what they consider to be best for their business even if that means moving away from their original ethos. The main reason I'm sticking with FC is that IMHO it still gives the best return of the more financially robust P2P/P2B platforms - that said, the recent filling of property loans without the need for any CB is an additional negative.

I was in a similar position and felt that it was prudent to take a lot of my property parts off the SM until after the new year. I also managed to get a decent chunk of the last couple of Es to be listed so hopefully at least one of them will be accepted. That still leaves me with a couple of grand sitting idle over Christmas though.

Just read in the FT that Samir Desai gets CBE in the New Year Honours List
Mr Desai said: “This honour is testament to the hard work of the Funding Circle team who have helped originate £1.25bn of loans from thousands of investors to small businesses in the last five years, creating over 50,000 new jobs globally.”
Are we congratulating or picking over some inflated numbers???
