We are glad to announce that one of Lithuania’s leading credit unions, Sostines kreditas, working with the brand Mano Unija ( www.manounija.lt), has joined the Mintos platform. Mano Unija will place business loans on the platform that are backed with real estate as security, as well as the personal guarantee of the owner. The amount of a single loan will be between EUR 10 000 to EUR 100 000. The term of the loans will be between six months and five years. The loans available for investment will be of very low risks. We forecast that the net annual yield will average 9%. Mano Unija is one of the leading credit unions in Lithuania with almost 20 years’ experience. The credit union brings together around 3000 members from Vilnius and its surroundings. Mano Unija attracts deposits from members and, when necessary, grants loans and provides financial consultations to its members. The purpose of Mano Unija is to facilitate the availability of financial resources as well as regional development by promoting individual participation in the economy. The total amount of loans granted by Mano Unija exceeds EUR 17 million. Last year the company worked with a net profit of EUR 448 000.

with 9% as projected interest, does it come with buy back?
It doesn't seem really lucrative as compared to other loans on Mintos?

I don't see any buyback icon on any of loans, but it looks as very safe given low LTVs.
But what makes me wonder is why credit union would finance its loan base via mintos for ~9%, when they can get one year deposits for 1%.

The interest rates reflects the risk. The loans originated by Mano Unija are of very low risks, and hence the interest rate is lower. Mano Unija loans come without the buyback guarantee.
In general, our aim is to provide different loans so that each investor can find investment opportunities suitable to their risk appetite.
Using peer-to-peer lending model in funding loans is another way to finance loans for Mano Unija that allows to sell more loans and thus attract new clients.
