This is all very reasonable, but not the problem to be solved. The reason for the instalment value being zero is that the loan has been sold, not that I hold a loan with principal equals zero. Like when I sold a car, the DVLA agreed that I no longer have it, and someone else has it, and its registration mark. No-one suggests I still have the car but with mass equals zero and I must tax it every year for zero pounds. Just an error of logic on the part of the developers.
BTW, the Romans had no numeral for zero, which presumably limited their development of mathematics and prevented us from using zero on clock faces. Why do so many watches still have Roman numerals - very strange.
