Well, one new one anyway. The wide beam boat condition doesn't seem too bad - can't expect pristine paintwork like the one in the picture after 7 years, especially if it's been about a bit (mind you, it can only go on the canals with wider locks and bridge holes, so it probably gets less rough treatment as it passes by other boats on skinny bits than a narrowboat). I've decided to dip my toes in on these two items (only three figures) because I'm unsure about the platform. Opinions welcomed, again.

Grumps, you wont see a widebeam on a canal, these are built for the Thames or other navigable rivers.

Hides head in shame after speaking out based on limited knowledge and total ignorance. Thank you for the educational input, My travels tended to take me to the little canals.

I was trying to find a couple of my photos of them near Middlewich, but my filing system is sadly lacking! Failed again! There isn't a huge number of wide beam boats on the canals even where the locks are wide, but they are usually quite smart. That one on the picture*(looking nearly new) is representing a 60foot long, 10 foot beam boat built near Trent Lock, so access would be easy for the River Trent, part of the Trent and Mersey, then down the River Soar past Leicester to full access on the Grand Union Canal to London, and as far west as Knowle near Birmingham. This picture is a Stenson Boatbuilders Craft built on the Trent and Mersey south-east of Derby, where the Stenson Bubble (trip boat) I mentioned operates. *Saving Stream don't actually give a picture of the boat we are giving the loan on, and I don't like that. That other picture of the "new 57ft narrowboat" is just one picked off from Geograph.org of a boat on the Bridgewater Canal near Dunham Massey in Cheshire. Saving Stream are supposed to acknowledge the copyright conditions and name the photographer when (legally) using other people's images with a Creative Commons Licence. The picture (it may be a 57foot boat) was taken by Ray Blow on 24 July 2007. The boat on Saving Stream was not built until 2013. .....bout time I shut up and went for a pint!

*Saving Stream don't actually give a picture of the boat we are giving the loan on, and I don't like that. I can see the logic when dealing with a privately owned boat, where the owner probably doesn't want to be seen to be borrowing from what is essentially a pawnbroker. But with a broker/dealer/refurbisher, I would have thought that financing was an expected part of the business, and I wouldn't have thought the borrower would mind if the actual boat was shown for those. In fact, if the broker is going to be -- or already is -- putting the boat up for sale, I might think they'd actually welcome more exposure.

OK, I'm in. I had initially been wary of SS, but all this boatiness has me tempted. Small toe dip on each boat. Interestingly they did not fill instantly. Thanks to OP for raising this topic.

I see Ray Blow's 2007 image has been used again for the latest narrowboat deal. It's shrunk by three feet! And SS still decline to acknowledge the copyright on the picture. SS, if you cannot show the real boat in the loan (this particular one may not even be painted, certainly not fully fitted out no CRT licence number yet), you shouldn't show a picture at all.
(Oh, it's fully subscribed already!)

I doubt it. It's available for anyone to use (free) on a Creative Commons licence, but that licence must be shown by the image so that anyone who then copies it on knows what licence to use. I haven't checked whether SS claim anywhere that material on their site is copyright to them, which would break the copyright law!
