Something fishy about this, no parent in there right uld ever let a 13 year old loose with75k Q: Can children under 18 inherit? A: Children cannot inherit until they reach the age of 18; below this age, the funds are held in Trust. If you think 18 is too young for your children to inherit a large sum of money, within a Will, you can specify that they do not receive the capital sum until a later age. They will, however, be entitled to receive any income from the trust fund as soon as they reach 18. Apart from this, the Trustees decide what income and/or capital can be used for the benefit of the children e.g. school fees. Nothing fishy; Shane posted here last month, and following his initial contact his mum also spoke to us. I don't know the in's & out's of his situation, but if his grandmother passed away I would imagine it is Mum who inherited the property (and the money following the sale). She asked Shane to put the money into a high-interest bank account for his future, but Shane had different ideas and found SS He seems like an intelligent young chap who has a bit of a financial mind; in fact, I would imagine Shane currently knows more about SS & DD than most new SS investors . However, Shanes mum confirmed to us that she would be keeping an eye on things. Its his money I believe from previous posts but controlled by his mum. Doesnt seem to be doing to badly. Already seems to have increased his investment by 66% thanks to the Dude's fat fingers and Chinese whispers. Its 45k

That cooling_dude is out there. He can't be bargained with. He can't be reasoned with. He doesn't feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And he absolutely will not stop, ever, until you have paid.:-D Edit. I know technically he's too young to get reference,

Not sure if I'm allowed to ask, but anyway .. has anyone found a way to turn off, or at least moderate, the stream of emails relating to part sales (2 per sale - one when you list, one when it sell) or purchases? Please savingstream give us an 'off' button if there isn't one. %rant on% The emails contain no useful information .. ' your loan part id XXXXXX' is now 100% sold .. yeah, but which loan was that (if you sold part of a part then the number is one you have never seen before .. oh, except on the 'you have listed it for sale' email .. but that doesn't mention loan name either). There is a link, but you have to log in, and not all my email machines are web-capable. When you buy, similarly, "Thank you for your loan part funding of £xxx.00. You are now earning 12% per annum on the above funds.". Yes, 12%, thank you .. that is the one piece of information there was no doubt about .. but what loan was this to which you refer?! (In this case you don't even get a part number, much less a useful loan reference). I mean actually I just pushed 'buy', so I know I bought it .. in which case don't email me (5 minutes later) at all. Does any of it tell me my current balance .. nope. Does it tell me my new holding in the loan, or anything else I care about .. nope. Can I have it sent directly to my spam black-hole .. only at risk of losing the odd SS email which is of interest (new loans, updates, etc). OK, so -some-of my email clients can automatically re-route this stuff, but my poor old tablet gets swamped. 8<. %end rant%

When I started investing in SS, after a day of SM trading I would have an inbox with 100s of e-mails from savingstream.... all pointless. I've controlled this by creating a rule in MS Outlook for all SS emails. The rule moves all e-mails from SS with "Loan Part" in the subject to a folder called "Savingstream Junk" However, like you said; tablets and phones get bombarded. If I knew about the 100s of useless e-mails I would get before I signed up, I would have set up a dedicated e-mail address for all SS e-mails; and set up a rule to forward all useful SS e-mails to my own personal e-mail address.

People change email addresses all the time, so SS have to be able to cope with that. You might want to give that a try. I've been filing all these emails despite never having had any reason to want to see one again. Perhaps I need to sign up with Hoarders Anonymous! Meanwhile, they do clog up my Inbox, and probably will become a real problem when I'm away from home for an extended period, so it would be nice to be able to turn them off.

Perhaps a more subversive filtering rule could be effective - each junk email from SS getting automatically forwarded to SS customer services with a covering note like "please arrange for me to stop getting emails similar to the attached".

On a slightly different note does anyone still get SMS notifications of new loans? There is still a tick box for them in Personal Details but I don't seem to have had one since the new site came in.

Nope. My mobile number is present in the "Personal Details" section of the SS website, and "SEND NEW LOAN NOTIFICATIONS VIA SMS?" is set to "YES" but I have never received a text message from SS.

Not really any point anymore with Prefunding. No need for SS to generate a stampede to the site so might as well save the cost Last one was PBL68, before that 64.

Agreed, but also no point in having the option in Personal Details. SS should add its removal to the list.

I've just been reading something on the SS site which suggests I can elect to take the whole loan's interest payments at the start of the loan rather than at the end of each month. Is that right?
"If you need access to the money you have lent out before a borrower is due to pay it back, you can use our 'Secondary Market' functionality to sell your loan part capital to other investors. Once purchased this capital is then credited back to your Saving Stream account. The 'Secondary Market' facility is not available if an investor chooses to receive the full loan term's interest upfront when investing in a loan."

I think maybe that was just with some of the earliest loans

Upfront interest was offered on the early PBL but ceased probably around PBL6.

Don't forget that PBL6 (That Bloody Hall) is still extant. If it was offered on that loan, then it may still be relevant.
