As someone who has during his lifetime been a bookie and a pub owner amongst many other jobs I feel I have more of a real world view on life than many who wish it was all flowers and peace and love. Who's talking about flowers and peace and love? And what makes you think that having been a bookie and a pub owner you have insights hidden from the rest of us? True, you might know more than most about the sort of clientele that habitually like a bet and a drink, but that is not the "real world" for the majority. As for life being too short to let anything get in the way of maximising profits, my view would be that life is too short to waste time on such an objective. Try maximising happiness, instead, and think of all those people that make you happy .... But if your name is scrooge, perhaps you are right. Memo to self: don't rise to the bait of every stupidity posted here.

Ethics is somewhat relative, if this forum existed 200 yrs ago we would all be talking about how much our Caribbean slaves were yielding (and probably the lack of availability of quality fresh shipments). Even the clergy had fingers in that pie, given it's a biblically acceptable practice. Times and current social thinking changes, so that it's now the poor who are enslaved and put to work by the rich... ethically? If there is money to be made, someone will make it. I take the view that I'd prefer it to be me with my frugal existence and philanthropic end of life policy where any wealth I've accumulated will be charitably divi'ed up when it no longer needs to sustain me (I've no kids and no plans to change that). pepperpot: I totally agree with you on this. By the way, I am totally available to help you with your final target. Just let me know, no need to divide really.

Have you not come across such a thing as a dictionary? Or a web search?
Best not to post if you have nothing to contribute other than being silly.
Probably best not to post if you've had a sense of humour bypass, makes you look a little bit silly.....
