Here, everyone can discuss, express opinions and share information and ideas freely. The only major rule to observe is be polite. (and do not refer to borrowers or business by their full name - use Initial followed by *** instead.)

Thanks. Is that why they aren't providing a "cancel sale" option? Because if they did, everyone would cancel their sales just before midnight each day? In the grand scheme of things, it has been VERY rare for there to be any parts for sale for any substantial period of time - it still is, with the exception of perhaps a few days for parts in a few relatively unpopular loans. The very small amount on the market at the moment that's unlikely to go today (£450k in 85, perhaps also £77k in 84 and £45k in 77, so about £570k in all) would get SS about £185 in saved interest overnight. That is a VERY small price for them to pay for customer satisfaction, if they felt that a "cancel sale" button would be well received.

My parting comment was a rather cheap and I rather wish I hadn't made it . No, it's a potentially valid concern. The reality has been very minor up until now - but if there's a significant liquidity problem, then it might well move from a theoretical concern to a real one.

That is a VERY small price for them to pay for customer satisfaction, if they felt that a "cancel sale" button would be well received. £185 may be a small amount to SS, but if it continues at that rate it becomes £68k/year and IMHO that's no longer insignificant. I realise that it wasn't so long ago that there was little or nothing for sale on the SS SM at 2359, but the releases of recent loans suggest to me that SS's pipeline is capable of providing more loans than SS investors have the appetite for, and that would suggest a very different SM situation from here forward. Other things that could push the pendulum even further in that direction are investors' potential withdrawals in the next two weeks to fund 2015/16 ISA contributions, other platforms making IFISAs available before SS can, and other P2P platforms that also used to be short of investing opportunities but now seem to have more investment opportunities than investors' appetite. (I'm familiar with FS and AC, but there may be others.)

A "Cancel" button can still be provided. It can even be more effective because it can become a tool against people with negative balance, being their "Cancel" button greyed out.

Not entirely convinced about the necessity of a "Cancel" button... besides anything else it'll lead to even more bot-powered game-playing. However, definitely like the idea of restricting the availability of a "Cancel" button to those with a positive balance if such were to be implemented.

I was regarding savingstream as a cash account while waiting for good opportunities on MoneyThing but no more. As this is a thread for newbies (?), I think I'll jump on my usual soap box. Whilst I am as guilty of using it as a 'cash account' as the rest, it isn't though is it? We have been spoilt in the last year or so with a very liquid market on SS and precious few loan issues. Elsewhere in P2P land investing like this ended up with a fair few loosing some of their capital, never mind interest or liquidity. So my mantra is that we should always be prepared to hold investments for their stated loan term and possibly beyond if they have to go through recovery. Do your DD and be comfortable with what you hold at all times. Market liquidity is the icing on the 12% cake.

Thanks Investor - think my new blue stars are quite fetching . On a more serious note, I've found the forum full of invaluable information, constructive comments, and friendly forumites on the whole. I think the mods and admin have in no small measure enabled this environment, they do an excellent job and I'm pleased to be able to assist. There are some other newbie mods and admin announced today, on the 'forum feedback' board in case you've missed it.

I couldn't agree more, I have spent the last 3 days browsing the newbies forum and found all the comments both helpful and interesting, not quite got to the confident point of making any kind of constructive comments yet, but the info is second to non.

Google scrabble money. Lots of nice ideas. Alternatively you can use the avatar builder of the forum.
