That extra information seemed to help. The live loan has now got to just under 78% and has slowed down. If the rate goes up a bit I have a few more quid to throw in.

15% and I'll put £500 more. Extending the auction won't help in this case.

Well it only needs another £6.18 and I was going to put it out of its misery. So I tried £10 but it advised the minimum had to be over £25. So I tried £30 but it said there was only £6.18 remaining and I couldn't bid over the remaining amount. So I tried £6.18 but the bid amount has to be over £25. So how do they ever completely fill up a loan?

It has happened before, and they just regard it as complete at this point and the borrower takes a few pounds less - it makes little difference to them as the numbers are low.
Now that some loans have started to repay it will probably happen more often when lenders re-invest the proceeds, which is what I think will have happened here. It was discussed in depth the last time it happened, over on the Zopa thread, and a number of viable solutions were suggested, but I think the FS guys just don't consider it to be a problem that the borrowers are likely to be bothered about.
Edit: obviously crossed posts with pepperpot!

Thanks both!! I had visions of it being stuck in limbo and having to go into another week!! I had left a message with FS asking them about it so I'll see if they respond. Nice to know it can get drawn down now though.

...................... The borrower can take the money offered at any point, it doesn't need to be 100% to get away. Not quite any point - it has to be at least 80% funded for them to take it.

One of the lenders has had the amount on one of his chunks of money increased by £6.18, taking it up to 100% funded now. I guess this must have been arranged manually. So, all is now nicely squared off.

That's fine then. Since "Jim" had put a big chunk of the loan it was only fair that he got to mop up the spare bit too. Well done "Jim"!!

There's an interesting blog post on the FS website explaining the quite extensive logistical operation behind the valuation and storage of the paintings from this listing. (Thanks due to ramblin rose for spotting this, and commenting on the zopa forum)

Di niente MrC.
I tend to default to the Zopa forum as I think more people still read on there, and I'm usually on there in any case - there might come a point when I default over here for FS.

My wary side noted that all you can see in the blog pictures for the Art auction is Noman standing next to a picture that we can only see the BACK of... it could be an empty frame or even one of those big old mirrors that used to go cheap on Portobello road

I had precisely the same thought - I am less sceptical than I was since some people have started to see returns, but until I get a steady flow of them myself I'll be staying on the conservative side.

Same here - I withdrew the funds from the one that repaid early just to prove it would arrive in my bank account (which it did).
