It has been most nights usually around 3am-5am. This is an unsually long time. I tried to gain access at about 11.15pm and it still down now 4.45am.
Thoughts going thru' my mind
1. Major changes happening, eg new servers
2. System crash & AC are unaware
3. Worst case scenario someone's done a bunk with all our cash

An ex developer had left a number of automatically generated reports scheduled to run every day on the system, and the data set has grown to the point where they were slowing down and then overlapping in their timings compounding the issue. I've canned the ones which weren't being used and sped up a couple of others to a degree where they're no longer an issue. We'll keep monitoring the system but this should have eased things. We're going to be moving hosting in the next week or two to a more powerful cluster of servers which should mean no more slow periods in the middle of the night when the automatic denizens of the site come out to do their thing.
