I wasn’t sure where to post this, but the majority of my activity was on the SS sub-forum, so if the MODs don’t mind I would like to post this here.
So it’s been a month… I’m sure that you all know that I was banned, and the reasons behind it. I stand here before you a rather embarrassed and sheepish man but do feel like I have to explain myself…
This forum was the first that I have taken an “active” part in, and I enjoyed it immensely. Above all, I enjoyed helping people out, via both answering newbie (and other) questions and completing some simple DD for others to muse over… It became quite addictive.
However, I was all too eager to up my profile. My idiotic solution was to create a couple of “dummy accounts” to do so. The plan was simple; to ask basic questions via the dummy accounts, and then to answer them myself; the idea being the dummy accounts would help others with a different mindset to mine. However; things started to get weird, because after I had begun these questions that I was answering, I then felt obliged to respond on my alter egos behalf; in essence, I began to have conversations with myself… The situation became like an online schizophrenic episode; in hindsight, I understand that this looks rather comical and above all pathetic.
For the above; I sincerely apologise to you all.
I have kept one eye on the forum since my ban, and it has been frustrating not being able to respond to the comments made by others on the “cooling_dude ban” thread. I would like it to be noted that when the initial contact came from mrclondon to discuss my multiple accounts, I provided no excuses, only a frank & sheepish confession. It was like a third party shaking me by the shoulders shouting “what are you doing you stupid man?”. As such, I also accepted in advance that punishment was in order, and fully anticipated it. I was surprised that I only receive a month ban; I’m sure some of the other MODs wanted much more, and I wouldn't have blamed them.
Reading the “ban” thread, I see many agreeing with my ban, which is not surprising at all, and I also see some sympathisers, which is also nice to see (although I feel it’s not merited, considering my actions). Some commented that they would miss my sense of humour, helpfulness and DD. It makes my above episode of “schizophrenia” all the more pointless in hindsight, and the more I think about it, the more I regret it.
There were also some personal comments directed towards me (cooling_dude), in that my overall contribution was unhelpful. I’m sorry that some of you feel that way, but I do only contribute to be helpful; for example, the DD I completed was to help others who may not have the time to do so themselves. I do understand that my persona and light humour portrayed in my posts might not be to some other member’s tastes, but that’s tough because that’s just who I am.
I would like to be clear that my only two dummy accounts where “shanectheman” & “jimsgirl”. There was some discussion just after my ban that some posts by new members might be new dummy accounts created by me; this is not the case. I have created no other dummy accounts other than the two the MODs have deleted, and nor do I ever intend on doing so again.
Once again I can only apologise to you all. I am keen to get going again and hope that in time that most of you can forgive my stupid actions
