I'm curious as to how much money people have invested on SS... I know that I could work out an average by dividing the number of investors by amount loaned out. However, that is highly inaccurate as I recon there are far fewer active investors on the platform, probably 1000-2000 at the most. Just for info: the average amount calculated from that figure would be £16,807.72 per investor. You should start a poll The problem is you NOT going to get accurate results by asking on these forums. What you would get is the "How much people have invested, who also partake in these forums". Not everybody who has invested in SS partake in this forum.

Also - While I agree with your ending remark that there are less "active investors" than "Registered investor" (this has been discussed elsewhere), but definitely more than 2000 (the IOW loan has 1819 investors, and some would have not invested in that loan for their own reasons). My best guess is 40% of registered investors are active (as calculated from other platform statistics), so currently there about 3100 active investors, which gives an average of £32,000.00 per investor. Also, even if an average of active investors was provided, this is significantly skewed by those few high net-worth investors. I have about 66k, if that's anything to go by, but I recon that's not very much, relative to most other investors.
Edit: Yes, you are right, my estimate of the stats on membership were a bit off.I also have 66k. Maybe I've done a CD! Or maybe I hacked you.

I joined a couple of weeks ago and have £550, £50 each over 11 loans. Planning to build up to £1000-£2000. Very small fry compared to everyone else that's stated their amounts so far but might well grow when I'm more experienced (though I have no where near 66k!). Percentage wise of savings/investments £1-£2k is probably about right for me.

I asked SS this question. Their answer was about £22K per active investor, but this was heavily skewed by a few large investors (large by portfolio not waist size ).

Which would imply around 4500 active investors I think.
