Is it possible to transfer money into Z using a debit card? (I'm sure it used to be, some years ago - but can't find option now)

How long does it take them roughly to credit your zopa account after making a bank transfer?
The FAQ claims same day, but surely that cant be the case if you send it at 11pm or even 4.55pm etc
Edit : Came in quick for me, within 2 hrs.

It's always been within 2hrs for me, but I haven't tried out of working hours. I can't recall doing so in the evenings but both in early mornings (say 6am) and weekends all payments, with one exception (out of dozens), have all arrived within 2 hours. The exception still arrived the same day but was somewhat delayed, I think that the problem was with RBS faster payments rather than Zopa

(I'm sure it used to be, some years ago - but can't find option now) Z have sent me an email - Yes they used to allow debit card payments, but these have been withdrawn as they were open to fraud (?) - they may reintroduce debit card payments in the future

takeshi I recently received an email (13/5) saying that as an early adopter I would now be allowed to do Direct Debits effectively immediately the email said I needed to go to Lending Summary for the link. Here's the Button On clicking the link I then get But it didn't give me the option to enter any details, amounts etc. So overall it doesn't work for me, yet, but it looks like it's being trialled. Has anyone else got this?

I had the email too - It's not quite what I wanted - (it's a one off direct debit taking 3 working days, rather than an instant transfer from a debit card) - but it let me enter an amount - money should arrive tomorrow
I'll let you know if it works

Hey ton,
I got the same thing and like you nothing much happened!
Zopa says that since I set up a £1 DD withdraw back when I started (2006/7) they think its going to take £1 at some point.
Not sure they are that confident in their answer though I guess i'll see in a week or so apparently - no new DD's in my bank as yet.

Had an email from Z this morning - my direct debit has....... failed. No reason given.
I'm going to give up now and let someone else test Z's processing.
(I think, if memory serves, direct debit mandates expire if unused for over a year - so this is probably the cause.
Z should have realised this and refreshed / restarted the DD rather than just tried to transfer?)
Edit: My bank says
a. Zopa have tried to take a DD without there being a live mandate on my account.
b. Direct Debits are not intended to be used for sporadic random requests - but for regular payments.

well i'll get an email too then as I haven't used my Zopa dd for a very long time.
To be honest I've been using Faster payments method for all my stuff and never had a problem. I only clicked on it to see what happens.
Sadly yet again it seems that zopa is not having a great time of understanding its own processes and outside processes at the moment!

Whats the point of DDs anyway if faster payments are available? The only difference is that you lose 3 days of interest.

Just had an email back from zopa asking me to confirm what I got when I clicked the DD link - apparently Zopa Dev are working on some fixes but they have acknowledged that the mandate stage should have appeared.
I pointed them at Ton and Takeshi's messages regarding what happened to them and they said they had already noticed this and they are monitoring the forum so that really encouraging - I better be on my best diplomatic behaviour then ;-) - I'd still recommend direct email though as they can't really miss that one.

I guess you could use Zopa potentially as one of your DD's you may need for any of the current accounts that give 3% or more and terms require 2 dd's perhaps. To be honest I use Tescos accounts that work quite well for that. I don't think I would use the DD's anyway as you say faster payments is so easy I was just curious as to what the DD option would give me. As for losing interest do you mean on Zopa or do you mean where the money comes from and the DD turnround gap - also surely the time new money takes to lend out anyway will lose more than 3 days interest wouldn't it - just curious.

Well, it adds the extra 3 days to the time it takes to lend out more money. So if you'd have lent it out in 7 days, it'd be 10 days instead, from the moment you click the button.
