Got some gravel at 2 minutes past midnight, just a tick box captcha. But then I hardly bother trying on the SM anymore.

That's very interesting because I will admit I don't spend a lot of time trying to buy on the secondary market any more. I tend to go on there and find there's nothing available and then if something is available after I've tried to buy it it has already gone and after a few minutes I get fed up and log off.
But it's definitely the case I have never once ever had any picture puzzle to solve and I guess that's because you only get that after so many attempts when the system starts worrying that you aren't human. And I never make enough attempts to trigger it because I get fed up before that stage is reached.
In the early days there was never even a box to tick there was always availability I remember I think it was PBL 5 having masses of availability for weeks or months on end. Now it all disappears in microseconds and you have to tick a box as well and by the time you ticked the box and gone to the next stage it tells you it can't be processed because you are too late

The early adopters then have to find the next big thing if they want to maintain their advantage. I certainly went through that with Zopa, and I'm still winding down my investment with them. So where do we go next?

I don't know my friend but maybe it's all for the best if my amount of money invested in saving stream is reduced by enforcement if you like because I can't invest as much as easily as before. I can't complain really I've done very well here for about 2 years and it's helped me out a lot. There's sometimes a positive with every negative and if the negative is I get a bit less interest from here in the future then the positive is I might have more of my money back in Low yielding rock safe investments like Banks.
For the moment I'm going to carry on and manage my funds here as well as I can with my capabilities and available time and I will recycle as much as possible into new loans when they come up. Then there is also Money Thing which is quite similar but the only downside there is it's all a bit smaller than saving stream and the amount of loans that come up are often quite small and sparse but the service there is very good and I will stick with them as well. If anything similar comes along I will look at that.
I think actually that some people can get a bit carried away with it all looking so good but common sense tells me that somewhere along the way there will be a hiccup and it's a fact that the future is uncertain with everything going on close to home and around the world in Economic and political terms and it's also a fact that the economy goes in Cycles and the property market goes in Cycles up and down and there's been a lot of big Downs in the past and there will be big downs in the future. All the time saving stream has been going it's been in an up cycle and now things are slowing down and do I want to be so exposed to it when we enter the next down cycle which might come sooner than we think. So I'm putting a positive spin on what I thought was a negative for me.

I'm on almost daily with IE 8.1 and never seen it before. I get the normal captcha tick 3 things and never had a free pass.

When I used Edge (windows 10 browser) I never had to do pictures, but Chrome is every time The problem is... you have to use Edge... Recapture or use MS Edge; this is tough and awful decision to have to make In all seriousness; I do seem to find edge give me the most time, but do get the pictures eventually. Chrome is the worse; browser hopping seems to work to give a couple of extra goes.

A pain, almost caught a few this afternoon, can't help myself if I see em, but a waste of my time, mostly gone before the page reloads........... sticking to prefunding scraps mostly.

its a pain, ive never used anything but fastest finger to invest in loans and didnt do too bad but this captcha thing is a total pain, i cant see how it is helping to stop those with automatic setups, if it cannot work out that i have already gone through the captcha system once

Before reCaptcha (during BOTGATE at the beginning of the year ) a BOT could just sweep up any loans that appeared on the SM within milliseconds, and nobody without a BOT had much of a chance. However; that being said, a BOT can still provide an advantage as it can get an investor to the pictures page instantly, given them a second or two advantage over FFF. However, these "BOTs" won't be active 24/7, and has a disadvantage over FFF investors avoiding the pictures. At the end of the day, the stats are against anybody trying to invest on the SM ATM. Non bottom-up pre-funding loans have been oversubscribed which is a strong indication that investors on the platform have money available to invest; there are at least 2000 active investors on SS, and if only 1% was on the SM at the same time, that's 20 investors all trying to grab a SM loan part at the same time. BOTs or not, the odds are stacked against you. That's the great thing about the SM on SS once you have invested your pot; your safe in the assumption that you can get access your money quickly. This is the primary reason SS has a SM, and it works a treat. There are times when the SM is easier to invest in; I have a lot of success throughout the early hours, and the SM becomes active just after a loan goes live (particularly true if it's a large loan). The best thing to do is to bide your time with pre-funding, and be happy in the knowledge that you have de-facto quick access to your money if you require it.

ha ha, i do prefund, i am also active in the early hours the day before and after a loan goes live, i also have most of what i want so things are not so bad for me, but when you get to a loan hit the amount you want only to see a captcha drives me nuts, i only have a couple of loans that i would increase anyway so no big deal, especially as i can use MT Col and a few others to soak up my remaining funds

Level playing field is all I ask for SS
