ha ha, i do prefund, i am also active in the early hours the day before and after a loan goes live, i also have most of what i want so things are not so bad for me, but when you get to a loan hit the amount you want only to see a captcha drives me nuts, i only have a couple of loans that i would increase anyway so no big deal, especially as i can use MT Col and a few others to soak up my remaining funds It wouldn't be quite so bad if you just had to go thru the captcha pictures once but I'm getting a second set come up.There's no way I can recognise and click on 4 shop fronts or rivers TWICE before someone else who isn't get this handicap, because I'm convinced we're not all seeing these pictures. Level playing field is all I ask for SS The problem is it's not up to SS; they have no control how Googles reCAPTCHA works; it's simply a case of you either have it or you don't, there's no settings or parameters. I stick by my post in the last page, but I do think reCAPTCHA is fundamentally flawed for the purpose SS is using it for; its primary purpose if for single time uses, such as the submission of a form or a download, not for quick repetitive use which is the case with investors on the SS SM. Such repetitive use simply flags you up as a BOT and chucks you the picture game, with the game getting harder as Google becomes more convinced you are a BOT simply because you are using it in quick succession. That being said, I can't think of an easy alternative solution. Tell you what, I'm kindda glad it's the newer Googles reCAPTCHA with pictures, as opposed to their older system where you had to type 2 fuzzy words...

So what you're saying CD is the more times you fail to get past the captcha the harder it gets ? The irony being because you've failed you're going to try again and again and ultimately your opportunity to buy gets less and less. So who are these people who are getting in a head of me to pick up the scraps off the SM ? Is it as simple as them being less active on the SM than me or have faster reaction times ?

It's not how many times you fail, just how many times you try... so yes, if you keep failing to buy, but trying to captcha it'll get harder (you typically get ~3 tries with no requirement except to tick the box .. unless you have various google ads type stuff blocked.)

SS support sent me this email regarding the Captcha:
"We are working on an alternative mechanism that is more user-friendly."
Good news.

I agree but what is the best alternative p2p out there in yield terms? Only really use RS and legacy bits in FC.

Yep, I've had that a couple of times, frustrating isn't it. Specially when there's something juicy in your sights Brian

I wonder if your connection - hotel? - is blocking it?

I wonder if your connection - hotel? - is blocking it? Maybe it's dial up or straining the neighbours internet, or mac d's

If your in a 4G area, you might want to consider using your mobile as a mobile hotspot. 4G is widspread now (ON EE anyeay) and the speed is increadable, much faster than most hotels WiFi.

yep, this captcha thing is really frustrating! like, how can you tell whether a stretch of water is a river or a bit of a lake? it's almost impossible to make a winning bid on the SM if some people aren't getting the same hindrance.
And are people really picking up the £0.01 loan parts? I assumed SS were collecting them all together and releasing them when they reach a reasonable value or adding them to larger part loans?

how can you tell whether a stretch of water is a river or a bit of a lake? If in doubt I choose the most promising three pictures. Three seems to be enough pictures to satisfy Google.

That's right Some of the puzzles includes pictures that even google doesn't know what they are. They're just using the recapture to get us to identify what the picture are to improve thier google images & maps (hence the road signs) service.

Yep, you don't have to get it right for heavens sake, you just have to tick at least 3 boxes in the half-a$$ed fashion which suggests you are a confused human. Heck, even a bot can do it. 8>. One suspects that some of the street number and shop front pix were taken by Google's self drive car AFTER it was in the accident. 8>.
