For last few days I've been having a progressively slower laptop even though it's only a few weeks old. Lately, I've been getting this message: ''A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now, open the script in the debugger, or let the script continue. Script: resource://gre/modules/commonj…scripts/kwift.FFJETPACK.min.js:1'' The internet is unbelievably slow even though my broadband works fine on my kid's tablet & the laptop in general is very slow in loading stuff like docs, pics, etc & executing commands. I've done a defrag (no joy). I've recently installed then uninstalled avg then replaced that with avast (doubt this is the cause but...) ANy suggestion to improve performance appreciated as I'm at my tether's end

Forgetting the internet for second; is the Laptop slow at other functions (such as starting up, shutting down, games, videos, application opening & closing etc.) or it only slow when using Firefox?

If you don't already use it you could install and run the free version CCleaner, but don't use it's registry cleaner unless you know what you are doing as that could give problems.

Check for updates for your Firefox add ons sounds like one may be broken Thanks, have tried your advice but no luck, Back to drawing board The next step is to disable all the add-ins and then reenable them one by one until you find the culprit

ANy suggestion to improve performance appreciated as I'm at my tether's end Did you encrypt the hard drive. I did on both my laptop and my desktop. My desktop CPU has some hardware function to help with this and it runs very fast. My laptop doesn't and is noticeably slower at booting and loading large documents than it was before encryption. But I am talking a couple of seconds extra. I find that this site (p2p idependentforum) and one other I use have adverts or trackers or something running scripts that have a significant impact on my computer's performance. I have scripts turned off by default now.

Means nothing to me, I'm afraid. www.reddit.com/r/firefox/comments/3yzns6/temporary_hangs_on_scriptskwiftffjetpackminjs1/?
