Please can there be a way to save my bank account details so that I don't have to re-enter them for every withdrawal? Entering these details is potentially error-prone and something I'd rather not get wrong

I seem to recall that AC have the correct details but require you to enter them (and your password) every time to ensure it's you and your account so that might be reassuring. But yes, it is very aggravating, along with not remembering your log-in email. As an aside, the "reference" never appears on my bank statements, does anyone else find this? paul123 I agree with your comments. AC are very security conscious, good, but nevertheless a bit overzealous with that.

The strange thing is that your bank account number and sort code are hardly the most secure pieces of information. They are printed on every cheque you write and known by anyone that has ever paid you money by Faster Payments.
It's sensible to request password confirmation of a withdrawal request, but the requirement to re-type your bank details (which is unique to AC, I think) adds very little.

Ablrate requires this also. I vaguely recall FC doing so, but it's been a while and I've tried to wipe that portion of my mind, so I may be wrong there.

I suspect people would feel a lot happier with this procedure if it was made clear that AC are asking for the info for security reasons and will be comparing the details entered against the details they already have. Having been told that, I'd be happy to supply the requested info. Without knowing that, the investor can worry that if they make a typo their money will be sent into the banking system never to be seen again -- except by the lucky person whose details were entered in error -- or that if someone hacked into their account it would be easy to liquidate the account and withdraw the proceeds to the hacker's account. It would seem that neither of those disaster cases actually could happen, but if the situation isn't made clear then imaginations go into overdrive.

I don't beleive that is so, as I have had a withdrawal "returned" due to me apparently entering incorrect details. "The bank details submitted were rejected by our bank with an error message stating that the account number was incorrect." Second attempt I gave entirely different details (i.e. for a different account) and it went through O.K. Brian

From memory, I have used both to pay into the account on different occasions. What would concern me more, is that if they do have a record of my account details why the "incorrect" details (Presumably a dyslexic typo) were used? Brian.

I hope someone can give a definitive answer but I think by law (AML?) they have to return money to a particular account, I guess the one you last used after the law changed???
