I have just returned from a holiday in Greece. Whilst there I attempted to access these boards on a Samsung tablet using google.
On searching for p2p I received a "website has been blocked for security reasons" page. OK I thought, I'll try peer to peer. Again the same page appeared.
peer was blocked as was apeer and speer but not eer. (deliberate mis spelling attempts to try and find out what was blocked).
I could search for specific P2P websites and get to their homepages (SS and RS) although I didn't attempt to log in.
I then tried Yahoo which would get the search results to appear but this forum was still blocked.
Whilst still in Greece (at the airport) I tried again. This time I could successfully access this forum.
Anyone have any idea as to how or why P2P/peer would be blocked at a specific location?

Anyone have any idea as to how or why P2P/peer would be blocked at a specific location? Who provided that internet connection? The resort or hotel, via WiFi? I'm not surprised that they'd block anything that might lead to people abusing a shared connection for illegally downloading music, films etc.

I didn't think of P2p in relation to file sharing but that makes sense.
I suppose my hotel's ISP just went for a total block on the words (at least using Google) whereas the airport ISP must have been more specific in identifying sites to block.
When I did searches whilst out there relating to this, I could only find reference to gambling sites being blocked.

Who provided that internet connection? The resort or hotel, via WiFi? Hotel via wifi. So whoever manage's the hotel connection have introduced whatever blocking terms they've deemed appropriate - probably due to previous experience... Most of these places tend to do the bare minimum to actually tick the box, so it wouldn't surprise me if it wasn't much above a domestic ADSL connection, shared between all the guests. You can see how that could quickly get clogged...

Not unusual. Lots of places the forums are blocked, local Picturehouse for one.
