I passed the property when I was on the river today. No massive surprises or worries. Sorry I didn't have a camera, but here are a few notes about what I saw.
- It looks rather different from the headline picture on the SS site or the pictures published on the sales brochures on some internet property sites, so some of those pictures may have been artist impressions or rather old. The pictures inside the valuation document are more reflective of what I saw. - A few of the berths are occupied. A lot of empty berths. - I could not see evidence of any active boat building. I expected to see a half built houseboat because we had been told the owner's plan was to build houseboats. Maybe I have mis-understood or maybe the work is out of site. - It is an excellent location. It is the other side of the island from the main river navigation so there is no through traffic. - There are some big and impressive houseboats the other side of the river from this site, suggesting the addition of impressive houseboats on this site would be in keeping with the area.

I've been doing some updated DD on this security & borrower and have stumbled across some additional information.
The borrower has had multiple problems with this site over the last couple of years; it seems that he was developing the site and not applying for planning permission (much to the annoyance of the locals). It was (and currently still is) discussed on a forum for locals in the area; the following is the initial post...
The same thread included links to the PP (mix of retrospective and new), and I have yet to look into those to see what was, and wasn't accepted. However, recently on the same thread (April 1, 2016), it was noted by a poster that the site was for sale; one of the comments in regards to this was the following...

Looks like people have taken note of your update. Availability creeping up from £0 to £24000 and still rising....

My (well strictly my wife's) £120 has gone too - within 5 minutes so clearly folk are still buying. Now if I just get rid of the wretched garden centre!

If any of the issues highlighted by CD cause investors problems, you can't say you weren't warned. Of course this assumes you read this forum, although reading the forum really should be a part of everyone's personal DD.

I sold after reading about the dubious background of the borrower on this forum and my £300 went in about two minutes. Thank you cooling dude and others.
