Just been planning what to sell once the PBL60 tranche goes live today. Looks like I can now sell everything, including parts 2 days old !! Have the rules changed again, or have they put an old version live? Are you in credit? Rule only applies if you have a negative balance.

IMHO, the new rule is a good rule, yet, it is flawed. Even after you have transfered funds in, at any time within the first 7 days, the newly bought loan part returns to an unsaleable state if your account is brought into a negative state by any other purchase/s. Which means, in theory, your whole portfolio could become unsaleable because your account has a negative balance of £0.01 I agree. I like this rule and it helps newer investors building up a portfolio in SM that bit easier.

I like this rule and it helps newer investors building up a portfolio in SM that bit easier. I'm not sure how you figure that .. I mean since this rule was introduced there are a whole bunch of parts I (and others) can't put on the SM, even if we wanted to (until/unless we clear the balance first). Not a big issue - lots of old stuff that can be sold .. but I don't see how it helps newer investors in any way (and, btw, as far as SS have stated anything, that was not the intent).

If you presume that newer investors are investing in newer loans as they are released, then a rule that means investors who are trying to clear negative balances have to sell parts in older loans rather than parts of very recent ones should mean more older loan parts are offered for sale and that ought to help those newer investors diversify. So I can see a bit of logic in p2plender's statement, but I'd expect the effect to be tiny.
