I was under the impression that Milngavie was Glasgow's Wigan - turns out that it's more like Glasgow's Wilmslow. I'm still nervous of the valuations of what I understand to be dilapidated properties.

Wigan is an industrial town lying on the edges of the Manchester conurbation.

Milngavie is definitely the posh bit of Glasgow (or was, last I was there), but of course ALL of Glasgow ('city of culture') is pretty posh these days. Not maybe quite up to Edinburgh standards, but none too shabby. I shall probably have a small punt, in the interests of deworsification .. 'small punt' being all we are likely to see unless some folks don't want to keep tiddlers, and the "Faster Finger Exercise Course" actually worked. 8>.

Wilmslow is the village next to Alderley Edge where all the Manchester footballers live. As well as Sir Alex Ferguson.

Both of these properties are in sought after areas on the outskirts of Glasgow where properties generally attract a higher price when selling. Obviously there is quite a bit of work to be done to bring them up to an acceptable modern day standard. But these are 2 I will be putting a few (Scottish) pounds into. Wonder what the exchange rate is? Last time I checked it was a rate at 1:1

Last time I had any Scottish pounds (folding, so a good few years back) the rate down in the deep South (aka Cambridgeshire) was 1 Scottish pound => (getting your ear bent about 'funny money' =or= chuckles) + one (green) English Pound.
