I'd be surprised if access to an AC forum would be so limited. Surely AC would want the forum accessible to potential investors as well as committed ones. As such, I don't think it would result in more open discussion of loans -- or fewer asterisks! The asterisks! are there due to decisions from mods on this forum, so you don't know if Assetz will take the same view. I accept that I don't know what AC's position on naming names would be, but I expect that the same issues of avoiding the spread of 'private' info, and avoiding potential libel, would apply equally to an AC forum as here, so I'd expect the AC policy to be at least broadly similar. Perhaps there is someone here who has been around long enough to have had experience of the previous AC forum, and maybe they would be willing to tell us what AC's policy was at that time.

I think you are probably referring to the now defunct Independent Funding Circle Forum. AC were communicative on that right from AC's start of business in Spring 2013. The person who ran that forum was unable to continue monitoring it (for personal reasons) and FC immediately "bought it up", stifled it, then rapidly closed its functions completely. It is now history. In the meantime, Andrew Holgate/Assetz paid for and set up this forum, and immediately passed it over to its present management* so as to not be involved in decisions and moderating activity. Assetz have never had their own forum, and I don't really think they will want to have one, while all the interaction they need is here. * I think some of our administrators/moderators may have been involved in the FC Indie forum. The policy re naming of names, like o**gr*mp*.com seems very similar to that forum. End of history lesson.

The policy re naming of names, like o**gr*mp*.com seems very similar to that forum. Thanks for the history lesson. I'm a long-time Zopaholic and user of the Zopa forum, and their asterisk policy is very similar to the one in use here. (There's also an overlap of moderators between the two forums so the similar policy isn't just a coincidence.)

That's such a clever move by AC & Andrew. oldgrumpy do you think that the closure of the old forum was down to anyone person or what they said?

As I recall, most of the discussion on the old indie forum in its latter stages was about Assetz, mainly thanks to Andrew's willingness to engage with contributors; I assume that might have pi***d FC off somewhat.

... and that that wasn't about Assetz, was lenders questioning some of the information and circumstances surrounding loans that were going wobbly (or were wobbling on their way in) at FC.
a.k.a "Crowd Due Diligence"
