I purchased a small slice on the SM about 45mins ago = 0.2% of the funds I have currently on loan with them and have just had THREE - please clear your balance messages. Also addressing me as Mr Janice M******
My track record is 100% for clearing within the deadline; so SS what are you up to? Trying to upset your loyal lender base or what!

LW Yes, this happened to me on Wednesday. I ignored it of course, but this behaviour, along with their apparent disengagement from this forum really does make me feel like they're going out of their way to alienate many of their loyal investor base. I really can't think of one good reason why they would want to do this.

This is probably just a consequence of developing automation without looking at all the scenarios that could happen. For example when the "job" is run to create emails it probably looks at the state of the account at that time and not take into account the age of the negative amount.
I'd expect overtime and seeing feedback they will modify the process. But we do all want automation to keep costs low and we should all not take it personally.

I'd also imagine that they are having severe problems sending out emails in a timely fashion. Their user base has expanded massively recently and with all the emails they attempt to send (got a slice, neg bal, put up for sale, 100% sold, bought, etc) that they are being marked as a spam sender or emails are getting lost or delayed by hours or days. I only got three of the nine allocation emails, it's quite likely the volume is causing a problem.

LW The funding reminder is an automated email. You usually get one only. Tday they must have had problems. I got that too three times. Don't take too much into it an continue respecting the timings and nothing should happen!

Just delete and move on!!! What is this delete thing you mention? I don't delete ANYthing for at least 7 years! By which time it's archived into so many backup copies, that it's IMPOSSIBLE to be certain you've deleted all of 'em!

Just delete and move on!!! I suspect that ladywhitenap had a -ve balance through yesterday, transferred money to clear it... but bought those extra parts before the balance had been applied this morning. In SS's eyes (and, let's be fair, reality), that's just one extended -ve balance. Some of it's been cleared, but not all. So, yes, the "clear your balance" message was justified - and the clock is still ticking from the last time there was a £0 or positive balance.

The automated reminder gets sent even if the negative balance has existed for only a few seconds - as long as the balance is negative at the exact moment that the system took its snapshot for the daily reminders you get an email (it presumably escalates if you're caught with a negative balance for multiple days). There are undoubtedly too many negative balances each day for SS to justify the cost of employing someone to manually review each one before a reminder gets sent out!
