I am working hard at trying to understanding my account. Looking at my Loan Parts, each loan has a 5 digit reference. Looking at my Transaction Statement each transaction has an 8 digit reference. I assumed it would be possible for me to check the transactions from a particular Loan Part but I cannot see how the two references are connected.

The 5 digit number is the loan ID, it is the same for everyone and refers to the loan as a whole.
The 8 digit number is the loan part ID, it is unique to the particular £20 (or whatever) chunk of the loan that you own. If you own more than one part in the same loan they'll have different part IDs even though they are all for the same loan and all owned by you.
It is a major annoyance of FC that some places refer to the loan ID and some to the part ID, and there's no way to link part IDs to loan IDs unless you maintain your own list outside of the FC website. One place where they are displayed together is on the "Sell Individually" page, so provided the loan is tradeable you could look it up there, sort by Part ID, find your part and you'll see the loan it relates to, gets a bit tedious if you own a lot of parts though.
Incidentally, the 5 digit loan ID number isn't always 5 digits, it started at 1 and increments with each loan (approximately, there have been gaps for various reasons), we are just in the 5 digit range at the moment.

If you go to the summary page,go to my loans, more details you will get a list with all of the loans you have invested in, now go to the drop down box at the top right & select loan parts and it will list each of your loans with both numbers showing. (this also had me stumped for a few months)

Thanks, yes I'd forgotten they were there, mainly because I rarely look at that now because of having to wade through pages of repaid loans to find anything useful! It would be the only place to find out the loan ID of an unsaleable part though (e.g. to see which loan a recovery payment on your statement belongs to).

And if you download your loan parts report that also has both numbers. And I find it easier to search it or sort it using my spreadsheet than the website.
