With the inclusion of Market Invoice (a member of the P2P finance association) more than £1.25billion of peer-to-peer loans have been arranged since 2005. By my estimation/calculation there is currently over £0.75billion currently invested in peer-to-peer loans, and this will break the £1billion mark later this year.
There are several new peer-to-peer companies launching soon - the more I look the more I find - although it is getting harder to differentiate them from each other. I'm not quite sure all of them are ready for regulation. I'm also a little worried that with the press coverage this sector is attracting there are people wanting to jump on the peer-to-peer bandwagon through various means.
There top three companies have remained pretty unchanged since the start, but the subsequent 5 are moving away from the rest. These include new companies such as Assetz Capital, Wellesley & Co and Lend Invest who's growth rate are exceptional even among the peer-to-peer companies. It will be a while before any of these start challenging the top 3, but 2014 is going to be very interesting!

There top three companies have remained pretty unchanged since the start Zopa has changed it's model a fair bit since it started. Apologies - I meant the top 3 names have remained the same since they all started. There was a very brief challenge from YES-secure, but we all know what happened there.
RateSetter have probably been the only major company that has kept to their original peer-to-peer lending model. Zopa started with a market model where all lenders received the same rate, then there was the introduction of listings, then their removal, then safeguard. That isn't meant as a criticism as Zopa have been pioneers in this field, and we all wouldn't be here if it wasn't for them.
