The amounts in cells G1:G9... Are they digits, formatted as currency? If so, how come they aren't consistent in the number of decimal places?
Or are they actually text starting with a "£" character, then some digits with the odd bit of punctuation?

I suspect that G1:G9 may contain strings e.g. £0.01 rather than 0.01 formatted as a currency or £1,000 rather than 1000. To correct this you would need to change the cells to numeric values and remove any commas.

Cut and pasted from SS live loans list. Retyping the numbers did the trick. I wonder why col D worked and not G. I guess I have to be careful when copying data from a web page.

Cut and pasted from SS live loans list. Use "Paste Special - Text" rather than simply "Paste".

I wonder why col D worked and not G. Perhaps because the data's more consistent. No decimal points in any of it.

Has anyone spotted the borrower names in the pic, nah, me either.  Gone now, thanks for pointing it out. I originally excluded those cols but then it was not showing the "Sum G1:G9".
