A note to Chris really
I just placed a load of small bids (Scottish play) and the Funds to Invest counter wasn't decrementing properly, it seemed to be one bid behind

A note to Chris really I just placed a load of small bids (Scottish play) and the Funds to Invest counter wasn't decrementing properly, it seemed to be one bid behind I think you're right, chris says in the other thread about this that they're all been enacted, but if you look at the Horseshoegraph on the proposal page for Scottish Property it says there's a small amount of pre-bids still to do, it says 0.06% I imagine these must be yours shimself. When you say Scottish Play do you mean Macbeth?

I suspect the 0.06% of pre-bids left are pre-bids placed by lenders with no available funds in their accounts. They won't turn into real bids until the lender either makes a deposit or receives payments from their existing portfolio. What I've noticed with respect to the glitch shimself mentioned is that, in many cases, activity in the right-hand area of the loan page seems to result in an update of only that area of the screen -- and in particular not to the "Available to Invest" figure. A 'refresh' of the web page solves that problem. Another thing I discovered with pre-bids under the new system is that they aren't converted to real bids on a one-to-one basis when the auction goes live. I placed a batch of £50 pre-bids, thinking loan parts smaller than £100 might be more easily saleable if I ever needed to exit, but all those bids were consolidated into a single large bid when the auction went live.

The pre-bids are now down to 0.02% (from 0.06%) so some either have been cancelled bids or as you say some Lenders have made deposits

Another observation... In looking at the list of bids, I can see that the pre-bids weren't converted to actual bids five minutes before the auction went live. It looks like the processing didn't start until the auction was open for investment. And furthermore, it looks like the pre-bid conversion happened very slowly, taking about 20 minutes to complete. It didn't cause a problem with this auction, but in a situation where there are lots of pre-bids, it would appear that a fast-fingered non-prebidding lender could jump the queue and help fill the loan request, placing bids that actually could prevent some of the pre-bids from becoming real bids. I think chris needs to look at this. |
