I'd guess that most people on this forum have bought property before. I'm putting together a service to help people going through the buying process and am looking to learn a bit more from people's experiences and get some feedback.
What problems and frustrations did you encounter when you were buying?
And in terms of a service to help buyers, what would you have found most helpful from a service like this when you were buying?
Thanks!

The whole process goes on far too long. It takes what seems like decades for solicitors to do simple work that, seeing as property transfer happens so often, should have been streamlined around 100 years ago.
A friend has just bought a place in California. There the law is the whole transaction has to be completed within 1 month of an offer being accepted. What's the problem here?

Where to start? One of the issues is that here a lot of things (for example going through a full mortgage application) are left until after an offer has been accepted whereas in other systems (such as the US, as you mention), you have to do that work before the point of offer.
