The list of my active loans appears in no logical order to me. It's not by number, age, amount, purchase date or any criteria that I can see. Nor can the list be sorted.
Anyone know why. Anyone been in touch with RS to query this?

It's ordered by the age of the newest loan part in each loan. So if you last bought a part in a loan a month ago, it'll appear above a loan that you last bought a part in yesterday. It'd definitely be useful to be able to sort it by the amount/remaining columns.
Edit: Actually I don't think that's true. I don't understand how they're ordered either!

I was looking at this yesterday and couldn't work out why my loans were all jumbled and not in numerical order. It's quite confusing if you are looking to see if you are invested in a particular PBL and the number is not there and then you'll find it's where you haven't been looking for it.e.g. you might find 84 after 93
My recommendation is that all PBLs should be numbered in ascending order in our My Loans page so you can find a particular loan easily and check at a glance if you have got it or not and how much. Then there are the DFLs. They will have to be also in ascending numerical order and I suggest they are placed at the end after the PBLs.

It seems to be ordered by the "url number" of the loan (e.g. hover over the link in the "details" column to see in the status bar on a desktop-based browser).
Broadly speaking this is ordered by the date on which the loan first appeared on the website... so loans which dragged on for ages before they got allocated a PBL / DFL number end up appearing out-of-sequence compared to loans that were able to go live soon after appearing on the website.

Yes, that's the order for 'my loans', although live loans, available loans, etc all sort in a different order (backwards or forwards). The URL number is quite interesting, since it shows you how many loans there 'once were', only half of which made it to DFL/PBL numbers IIRC.

Anyone know why. Anyone been in touch with RS to query this? I don't think they will know . The 'unsortableness' of the list was noted and a fix requested on the introduction of the new website. It's been raised again, on here at least, a few times since, but whist they've attended to quite a few things this is one seems to have been past by, so it certainly won't hurt to remind them . I wish they would fix it, or at least order it in the same way as 'live loans', I just about never use the list as it is so difficult to find things.

But you can't order it by PBL number when it has DFLs and (once) a yacht in it. To be fair 'live' can now be sorted alphamerically .. the DFLs 1-4 then the PBLs (or reversed), so I guess the same for 'my loans' would be what people expect.

But there's no excuse for loans on one page to be listed more or less oldest first while on another page they're listed newest first. Surely it wouldn't be a major effort for savingstream to give their users just a bit of control over how things appear by allowing displays to be sorted on whichever column a user wants. It was no big deal when there were only a few active loans, but we're approaching 100 now and the existing system is getting harder and harder to use efficiently on a large-screen computer. On a small-screen tablet or phone, it's rather hopeless.

I have raised this issue with SS several times as for me numerical order would make life so much easier. I am told it is "on the list".

This annoyed me for some time* so now I highlight all the loans, drop them into Excel and sort them, only takes 20 seconds to see/check what I want.
If you want to find a specific loan, don't 'sort' just 'find' and then you will know where on the SS display the loan is.
This pragmatic approach works for me, it seems all platforms that I invest through have their quirks (I exclude MT here, does everything I want) so I just get in the habit of working round them.
*I've always wondered how my loans were displayed (didn't show consistency across the 3 accounts I run) so thanks for the suggestions in the other posts in this thread!
