Someone asked the question about a week ago on another thread as to whether or not there are any loans that never appear for sale. Although the answer to this has to be no, it made me decide to take a look at loan availability and come up with a few stats.
This was not continual monitoring but consisted of 3 or 4 snapshots per day (none overnight) looking at the loan activity tab. First caveat here is that this tab only contains 10 transactions so if more than 10 had occurred between my snapshots, only 10 would be counted.
Since about 9am 24th July until 9 am this morning (6 days) there have been:
15 loans that have had 0 availability at every spot check These were PBL099 PBL101 PBL119 PBL102 PBL122 PBL103 PBL092 PBL105 PBL120 PBL112 PBL121 PBL113 PBL098 PBL117 PBL115. Note, this doesn’t mean they’re never available, just that the get snapped up quickly such that they’re rarely seen.
The 5 loans that had the highest average on offer at each spot check were PBL020 PBL106 PBL035 PBL081 PBL077
The 5 loans with the least transactions by monetary worth were PBL020 PBL098 PBL036 PBL102 PBL026. It is worth adding at this point that every loan during the 6 days had some trading occur so in answer to the original question which set me off on this exercise, all loans did appear during this 6 day exercise, you just have to be extremely lucky to see them.
Looking at the average amounts available and the volumes traded, I deduced that the 5 rarest loans over this period were PBL098 PBL102 PBL099 PBL101 PBL121.
Some additional stats identified as an offshoot were:
6 investors had traded a total of 50K or over 6 investors had over 50 trades 5 investors had average trades of 10K or over

Thank you for this. I asked the initial question, but didn't ask it very clearly.

Thank you for this. I asked the initial question, but didn't ask it very clearly. Just looked these up. I have also found 92 difficult to catch. I have what I want of 121 Would like a little more of 102 and 101 Definitely want more of 092 and 098. Not wanting any 099. Thanks to OP for interesting analysis.

There are 2 loans I would like a bigger chunk of (sky build and stub accom b) I have never seen them for sale on the SM, if I don't get what I want soon, I'll sell my share and put the money else where. I like my loans to be in £100 chunks, I have £77 in stub accom b and £68 in sky build.

Perhaps a better way to determine "rarity" is to look at the investor activity tab.
PBL101, for example - 30/7, £350 in four transactions. 29/7, £510 in five transactions. PBL99 - 31/7 - £20 in one transaction (and it's not even 10am). 30/7, £782 in seven transactions.
They're both being traded, it's just that you're missing them.
PBL098 is the scarcest, by that measure - the oldest of the ten transactions shown is 25/7, average of only a hundred quid per transaction.

Total of these 5 loans is only 1.2Mil hence the lack of availability.
