I must admit to resuming my old habit of shouting at the TV today - brilliant cycling, and two of my pin-ups, the lovely and truly sporting Jessica and Katarina; I've been bellowing at both of them  ...and those astonishing gymnasts this week, men and girls! Managing to hold back on the shouting at the screen, saving that for start of the football at the weekend... except for Murray. Come on man, sort it out, 6-0 first set and then sneaking a third set tiebreak to win, whats that about? Oh and rowing golds ... raining!!

I'm quietly hopeful that we might be going for gold and silver in the heptathlon. Our girls are amazing . Jess Ennis is obviously a star, but I hope that Katerina Johnson-Thompson can come out from under Jess' shadow, believe in herself (her high jump was amazing!, but then so was Jess'), and that the two of them can drive each other to success . Looking a tad less likely after that Shot Put I'm afraid. I'm finding the lack of attendance (not just at the main Olympic stadium, but also most of the others) an absolute disgrace... This is supposed to be "The Greatest Show on Earth" for crying out loud  .

The way Mo kicks near the end is incredible and looks unreal. He was just looking around to know exactly when to start kicking I think. Oh and he fell over but still won! Fab.

Yeah, he did brilliantly . I stayed up to watch that, but couldn't stay awake for the heptathlon 800m. Very disappointed for KJT, she seemed to lose all confidence in herself, which was such a contrast to the way she was after the high jump, and horrible for her to go through and us to watch  . |

KJT is only 23 so she'll have more Olympics ahead of her. I'm no expert it looks like she needs to work on her upper body strength to improve on her shot put & javelin to get th=hose valuable extra points. She also needs to work on her mental strengh; when she was practising her javelin with a water bottle you could just see her mentally destroying any chances she had.
Like I said I'm sure she'll be back... that being said so will the Belgian and she looks like she's going to be hard to beat.

The Murray del Potro final was one of the best tennis matches I have ever watched. del Potro was so physically broken at one point that I actually thought he was going to throw the towel in. Fair play to him for digging deep and pushing it to another set. According to the beeb website there were fourteen (!!!!) breaks of serve.

Wow!, GB women's Hockey team have done the impossible. Get BBC1 News at Ten delayed and get BBC2 Newsnight delayed at the same time, so both channels can show the penalty shoot-out live at the same time.

It was great to watch, and I learnt a lot about the game. Well done to the whole team, but it was the goalie what won it :-).
i feel a bit sorry for the Dutch, but they just didn't quite have enough to win in open play.
It was also a brilliant performance by Nick Skelton (sp?), with perhaps another gold to come in the men's taikwondo at silly o'clock this morning.

And a new British record for the women's 4*100 earning them a Bronze. What's not to like . i think I might have to stay up for the taikwondo now. And to figure out what happened in the men's 4*400m. |
