This misleading quoting is not as bad as people make out; if there are more than two previous quotes in a post, and you quote that post, the forum deletes the first quote.... So this is my first quoted post...

So this is my first quoted post... ...this is my second quoted post... ...and this is my third. Note that the original post from the top of this page has disappeared; I didn't delete it, the forum automatically removes it. Personally, I find it easier to follow discussions when posts are being quoted, especially when the discussion has been split by other posts.

Quoting is useful if your using the recent posts link - so don't have to go into thread to work out what people are talking about
Speaking of recent posts - anyway of adding the board in the list of recent posts? just 'new loans' and 'whats on secondary market' threads are difficult to know which platform referring too
Also any quick button to get too notifications - normally 2 to 3 clicks - worse on mobile as drop down menus

For someone with poor vision like myself, having to read through a long fully quoted post again to find what is being replied to is a real pain and a complete waste of time. I rarely look at topics on the SS board for example, as there is so much chatter to get through to find the useful bits.
Yes we do get grumpy as we become old! Time is valuable.

/mod hat slightly askance ..
Like most things there is a happy medium .. quoting is useful to indicate what/who you are replying to (too often I put a short 'yes, I agree, but ..' only to discover I am now 4 posts down from the one I am agreeing with, maybe on a new page even), but quoting the whole of a 2 page diatribe in order to append a one line 'What a load of codswallop!' on the end is not useful, or electron-friendly (and probably breaks the forum 'polite and constructive' rule too). However if you trim someone's post in an un-obvious way, it is good practice to show it by replacing the missing epic by "<snip>" or similar.
Quoting is also a PITA (for the moderators) when people re-quote stuff which should not have been posted in the first place (name of borrower for instance) .. and doubly dumb when they quote it to add 'I don't think you should have said that, it names the borrower'. The forum lacks a 'replace all' function, so each re-quote has to be fixed manually.
Lastly it must be noted that the quoting function sometimes messes up (thanks Proboards!) making your addition appear as part of what you are quoting, the only way out being to switch to bbCode view. This gets really confusing for subsequent readers if you don't spot/fix it.

... Speaking of recent posts - anyway of adding the board in the list of recent posts? just 'new loans' and 'whats on secondary market' threads are difficult to know which platform referring too ... No, not as far as I'm aware, or the only other way would be if the OP puts the board's initials in the thread title to start with... What do people think? Is it worthwhile for perhaps the most popular threads on boards to add the platforms initials into the title of the thread? So one might now read on Collateral as "Col-New Loans Available" Would that be useful on a tablet or phone? This might ruin my fellow Mods weekend so I'm making no guarantees. Proboards doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles I don't see any other way of doing it.

Most of them you can work out - eg anything with a PBL number - but there are a few that have the same or similar titles between platforms and just the ones with the most posts would help, such as new loans and SM - imagine this might be about 10 titles at most - maybe try it and see if its found useful

What happens on other sites is that if you select the relevant bit of the post you are quoting then press reply, then only the selected bit gets copied. OK I know this is proboards not p2pif but just saying...
