Just tried to buy some furniture, and I tried more than once on different browsers. Didn't work. Error message:
There Was A Problem
There has been an error buying the loan unit(s): insert or update on table "loan_part_deferred_interest" violates foreign key constraint "loan_part_deferred_interest_repayment_id_fkey"
Gobblydegook. But I expect it means something to Chris!

Hmmm...can't say I've seen this one before. Sometimes you get a pink/purple error message if you try to buy parts & someone had just beaten you to them but I'm sure the text of the error message is not what you've described. chris help!

I suspect that this was on auction 70? If so then the repayments were just recalculated due to their being an incorrect setting when the loan was drawn down and it looks like this has caused a knock on effect on selling on the aftermarket. It would have self corrected tonight when the system automatically updates each loan but I've just forced it through on this loan.

With someone else having brought up the subject of AM problems, I'll add mine, which wasn't on Auction 70... I've tried to buy selected parts by ticking the boxes of the individual parts. When I tick the first one, the message above the 'Review Your Purchase' button changes to "1 unit selected totalling £100.00". So far, so good. Then I tick a few more boxes and find that the number of boxes ticked is inconsistent with the message. The example I have on my screen now has four boxes ticked (all £100 parts), and the message says "2 units selected totalling £200.00". (If I can work out how to post a screen shot, I'll do that later.) Sometimes the message says more units are selected than I've ticked boxes for. If I then click the 'Review Your Purchase' button, the results are unpredictable. Sometimes the next screen shows a number of parts that's consistent with the message, sometimes it shows a number of parts that's consistent with the number of boxes ticked, and sometimes it shows a number of parts that's not consistent with either the message or with the number of boxes ticked. Can anyone else reproduce the problem? (You don't even need to have any money available in your account to try.) Just remember not to click the 'Yes, Buy These Units' button on the confirmation screen. If I'm not the only one with this issue, then perhaps chris would like to investigate further.

Can confirm this on Epping.
I suspect that what's happening is you are ticking loan parts, they are being added to the total, and while you are sitting there manually doing that, Auto Invest is stealing those loan parts from under you.
So although you have 2 loan parts ticked, total £100, when you tick a third, you end up with three loans ticked, totalled as 2 parts, £200, because one of the others went away.
Just a guess.

(If I can work out how to post a screen shot, I'll do that later.) Sometimes the message says more units are selected than I've ticked boxes for. OK. Here's an attempt to include a screen shot. The important thing to note is four boxes ticked, but only two parts 'selected'. I don't think it's a case of some parts becoming unavailable, as mikeb suggested, because sometimes more parts are selected than are ticked. Also, this has happened in the wee hours when I expect not much else is happening. And after multiple occurrences of this, and multiple screen refreshes, the loan number of parts shown as available hasn't changed. Over to you, chris!

Thanks for the details. I believe this is a problem in the front end website which I'll raise with our dev team tomorrow.

Thanks for the details. I believe this is a problem in the front end website which I'll raise with our dev team tomorrow. I had different effect but today I find that I can't reproduce it. Simply if I put in a request to buy a certain amount of stock, but rather than decline I just closed the whole window; the same value would be remembered and be entered into the next similar window that I opened. If that makes sense.

Okay, will raise that as well. They'll grumble that if it can't be recreated then they can't test if it's fixed or not, but I'll try and grumble at them louder

Thankfully our baby is a fairly relaxed one so I get away with working for the odd hour here or there.
