Anyone running Windows XP will no longer be getting Windows updates and so IE will probably not be patched. It may be advisable for them to use another browser such as Firefox or Chrome from now on.

It won't happen automatically on XP machines, but it ought to be possible to update IE manually. I think IE8 will run under XP, and I expect some people using OSs that still are supported will be using IE8, so I'd expect IE8 to be patched.

I would strongly recommend anyone to run the Secunia psi to scan for updates needed for any insecure programs they may have on their computer. Lots of out of date programs are vulnerable to intrusion. secunia.com/vulnerability_scanning/personal/ |
