Hello everybody,
before I continue, please excuse me if I violate any forum rules with the following question/request.
I am currently working on a study in cooperation with a leading German university on P2P Loan performance in contrast to Corporate Bond performance. In detail, I am trying to assess whether or not P2P Lending loans (same volume and similar average rating) are as profitable as investing in Corporate Bonds by utilising common financial ratios, such as the Sharpe Ratio.
Now, I have the Bond data - however, since I am not a UK citizen and the German platform does not give access to the full loan book, I am trying to get access to the UK loan book. Therefore, does anybody know how I can get ahold of an up to date version of the loan book?
Thank you very much in advance.
Regards, Nico

Download it from the FC website (Statistics section, IIRC)

Just had a look and the loanbook link is only available when logged in. Without looking further it might be against T+C's to share it? Hi, exactly - unfortunately, one needs to be logged in to download the up to date loan book from Funding Circle. And I am not sure whether it is illegal to share the loan book. Any recommendation or hint would be more than welcome! Thank you very much!

If you register as a member of FC then you'll be able to download the loan book (there is no need to start lending). However you'll have to read the T&Cs to determine what you're permitted to do with the information. Have you considered approaching FC direct, if your study is genuinely for academic research, rather than trying to obtain unauthorised access?

Hi SteveT, unfortunately, I have to provide further identification (which I cannot do since I am not a UK citizen) in order to see the FC statistics website for registered members. Furthermore, it is genuinely for academic research, and directly contacting Funding Circle has been unfruitful so far. That is the main reason why is looking for advice or help on this forum! Thanks again! Nico

Thanks again! Nico nico: As SteveT suggested above, the best course of action is to request a copy of the loan book direct from FC as its access and use is subject to restrictions in their T&C's. As you intend to use the information in an academic study (which I assume will be published and publicly available) getting FC's consent would avoid any potential sanction by FC against you for obtaining/using the information in an unauthorised way.

Advice from SteveT and nick is absolutely right. Your only route is to approach FC directly for the information you need and authority to use it in your study. Even if you got it in a roundabout informal way, you would be ill advised to use it without their agreement, or your academic study might be of no value. It is FC's property and you have no right to access it or use it without their consent. We are lucky to have this resource as lenders.
