This loan was downgraded all the way back in February after FC heard about a CCJ being registered, with a promise to "...update lenders as soon as we have further information..." 9 weeks or so seem like a long time for an update - Or am I starting to get unduly impatient with FC?

Well, the good news is that the company are continuing to pay up although, having looked again at the loan details, I see that some pertinent negative points were made in the Q&A. For some reason I can't get the financials to download onto my i-pad so can't look at those again. (I note that it's a Welsh company - where's that Merlin?).
FC have pretty well summarised their approach to CCJ's in their comments on loan 4907 on their official forum which you can access from the FC front page without logging in; makes interesting reading and may lead you to re-assess your bidding strategy!

Hi valerieb. Sorry, I am afraid I did not bid on this one so I have no information as to location or otherwise.

No need to be sorry, Merlin, it was meant to be a warning that you might want to take cover as the lynching mob may be getting some new recruits. Think I might add Wales to my list of places to avoid, not for their mountains, castles, singing, preserved railways, gardens etc, just for the loans.

Watch out for this one Loan Request **666. Loan for CCJ contingency fund.
Who Are We?
Here Today Co. Specialists in this and that for many years. Our numbers look good. What Is The Loan For?
In today's uncertain business environment, full of dubious characters, CCJs, even unjustified CCJs, can just appear from nowhere, or worse lurk unseen and unknown, to suddenly emerge to cause problems at the most awkward time. The prudent company should always plan for those contingencies, to ensure that sufficient funds are available should such an unlikely event occur, without taking essential funds needed to run the business. Unfortunately funds from real charities are not available to us. Why Are We Safe To Lend To?
Many businesses provide a worrying risk to lenders. We understand that lenders do not need the worry which comes from uncertainty. We offer the certainty which removes the worry.

I've got this loan on my watchlist but I do need more detail to enable me to make an informed decision. So, are you based in Wales within easy reach of a scrapyard? Do you have the words 'solutions' and/or 'logistics' in your company title? Are you taking your business to the next level? Are you a proactive, self-starter? Is there a PG from someone you believe has sufficient funds at his/her disposal as quasi-security? Is there a second floating charge? These are all bottom lines for me, so very much hope you can set my mind at rest as I do like the look of your offering.

Do you have the words 'solutions' and/or 'logistics' or 'top tier' in your company title? Are you taking your business to the next level in the fresh air? Are you a proactive, self-starter? Is there a PG from someone you believe has sufficient funds at his/her disposal as quasi-security? Is there a second floating charge? These are all bottom lines for me, so very much hope you can set my mind at rest as I do like the look of your offering. Vandalised the quote!!

Now now ladies and gentlemen - no need for all that, is there? If every loan went to plan and every payment was made on time you'd have nothing to talk about. I reserve the right, however, to also become a grumpy old sod when the first (or second, or third, etc..........) of my (so far only) 51 (fully diversified) loan parts miss a payment - and that could happen quite soon as most of them have to make their first payment It's still more fun then just sticking some money in the bank and getting maybe 3p in the pound a year.

Had an interesting conversation with a lawyer yesterday while sweating it out in a steam room at yet another hotel on my peripatetic travels. Apparently, currently Legal firms are the second highest category of business that are folding after pubs.
Apparently our top tier walla would drink to that.
EDIT: Mind you, he was a divorce lawyer (in a firm of mainly commercial lawyers oddly) so I'm not sure I'd trust a word he says.
