For a private forum, would a simplified process like this be ok? 1. Forumite who wants access sends request to admin 2. Admin says, please send me a screenshot of savingstream.co.uk/loans/updates when you are logged in (that page needs login I believe) 3. Forumite sends screenshot of that page once they are logged in and with latest updates to prove they are a real member It would work - as would any logged-in screenshot (and, yes, that page is logged-in-only) BUT... there will be resistance on the part of users to anything that reveals personal details beyond the basic, including the balance, which is shown on every logged-in SS page. Yes, it can be photoshopped out, if you know how. Also, that screenshot wouldn't actually confirm that it's your account.

IMHO, I doubt SS will feel compelled to change their entire lender communications strategy (and add a lot of cost) simply because one person decides not to post as often on this forum.

Steve it is not a matter of not posting. You are aware why he has taken that decision. Now I do not want to contest the rules. They are there for a reason, but if a private board is created, I hope that such difficulties will be reduced.

Sorry, I appreciate that a lot of SS lenders have grown used to relying on CD's admirable leg-work and are disappointed if he won't be sharing it in future, but I don't understand why the forum rules are being blamed (they haven't changed after all).
It's not that hard to take a moment and check that a draft message doesn't identify a borrower before posting it; the vast majority of forum members do so successfully every time. "More haste, less speed" is perhaps appropriate.

What I am thinking is that if there is a private board, like in the case of AC, certain information can be disclosed which would otherwise not be allowed in the public board.

Thincats have their own private forum on www.forum.name of platform enter here.net. it works like a treat...borrowers are named/shamed/complained/ praised etc. It is the best part about Thincats. Some really really intelligent contributors... michaelc you mentioned forum software and hosting is simple and inexpensive. How do we go about it? Anyone else knowledgable on this? If we can get SS 's tacit agreement it will work like a treat.

At the bottom of the screen you should see a link "This Forum is hosted for Free by ProBoards. Get your own Free Forum"

I saw this moment coming. I now have no idea what to do about Edgbaston & Cornwall!

/mod hat off
I suggest a) cricket and b) a surfboard. 8>.
Or did you mean investing in them?? I mean it's (arguably) the nicest part of Brum, but it's still Brum, not Mayfair. Read the valuation reports, checkout the borrowers, and draw your own conclusions .. I did.

I saw this moment coming. I now have no idea what to do about Edgbaston & Cornwall! Well, apart from doing your own DD as GSV3MIaC suggested and is what I would always recommend in any event, have you read this thread? I think some of us are expecting they might yet vanish into the mists.

I think some of us are expecting they might yet vanish into the mists. And reappear at a lower interest rate?

I think some of us are expecting they might yet vanish into the mists. And reappear at a lower interest rate? Whilst I have a soft spot for Brum, I've seen enough on those two loans not to take them at rates over 12%, let alone less than.
