star dust , why do the asset names have to be st***ed out?
The names are freely available on the SS site (without logging in) and if I Google 'DFL008' I get the full asset name on page 1, fourth item. Interestingly, the DFL008 thread in this forum comes top but with a load of st*rs.
What is the reason for obfuscating this information in this blog site forum? I'm just about to go to bed so I can't answer further today, one issue is that a loan might default in the future, sometimes this causes Users to get annoyed and say things about the loan or Borrower that in the cool light of day they wouldn't normally say. It would then be libel and we don't want to go anywhere near there. This is a complicated issue and it's not helped that different platforms work in different ways but the same rules have to work over all of them. Also the rules do get updated from time to time and they can be discussed on the "Forum Feedback" area. HTH

twoheads : adrianc is correct. Yes the forum rule does talk about 'unless publicly made available'. That was constructed to allow for exception cases of e.g. Mention of / linking to Platform Marketing material and hence it would clearly be with the borrower's permission. It was not constructed to cater for a particular platform which singularly / exceptionally in the industry plasters all its borrower's details all over the front page of its website with no requirement for log in. For the purposes of consistency, and to protect against a situation in future where that platform decides to revert to making that information only available to those logged into the site, no exception is being made. Even if that does on the basis of what they do TODAY seem incongruous/illogical. So please feel free to use E.G. DFL008 but do not use the asset / borrower name; the fact that the loan id could allow every tom dick and potentially even harry to connect to the borrower, that is the platform's issue; and should a change of policy on the part of the platform alter that in the future, we will not be left hanging out on a very long limb. Those are the rules as applied in practise, regardless of any strict interpretation. Its a forum and not a court of law :-) Application of the rule seems very inconsistent. Posts which comply with the rule (posting only information that is public knowledge such as the title of a loan, or judging by the above, even a link to the loan under discussion!) get punished, but posts which are against the rule (e.g. copying the content of "recent updates" which cannot be accessed without being logged in) are permitted.
