...combined heat & power and biomass installation. Damn I almost wish I hadn't already used this years ISA allowance now

Praise indeed!
I assumed that this sector had been killed off by Amber Rudd so I don't usually look here. But it seems I ought to have paid attention earlier.
Would someone with experience here care to remark on the long term performance of this platform? How does default management measure up, should there have been any?

(You have to bear in mind that some of the FIT based debentures are repaying over nearly 20yrs!!) But over the last 18 months it has all seemed to behave as expected. Not a huge deal flow - think I've picked up 15 - I just use it as an interesting alternative place to invest a bit when something different comes up.

Still interested! Is there no secondary market? Is there any way to move out of some of the longer term investment commitments?
Regarding the current offering, on past experience is this likely to reach its 2m minimum funding requirement?

There is an SM - I've not really looked at it, have no idea how much actually trades, tho Jonah includes it in his tracker. I expect it to fill pretty easily, the last 12%er was a similar size and went relatively quickly.... and there have been plenty of similar size or much larger with lower rates over (much) longer terms that have also filled.

I have invested in 20 debentures in just over 3 years, a mix of solar, wind, and bio, mostly 20 year investments returning 6-8%.
One repaid early, otherwise no surprises.
I have placed parts of some of my debentures on the SM (bulletin board) and almost invariably received multiple offers and sold at a profit.
Some of the investments took a long time to fill, this one is different being 1 year and 12% but it is a big offer and I wouldn't be surprised if it isn't filled this year.

12% means there is risk.
I have been very surprised by the performance of some turbines on AC, around or even below 50% of planned production, even after a year's production. So these things can go wrong (afaik so far they are all still seeking to exit without lenders incurring a loss, but imo it must be getting tight on some of them)
There is one biomass venture on TC which is looking unhappy, paying late.
I think that biomass is actually not good technology - not really green, so any hiccup and it might get shafted by a change of policy from government
So, having written this, I think it's not for me.

Hmm, I've got some TC biomass on my shoe and a lot of AZ and FK windmill.
These AZ turbines, is there any point in trying only to hold the ones which work as predicted, or are they really a 'package' of windmills with the same/related underlying ownership, and will pay back or crash together?

I invested in the previous BIO project from this developer in November 2015, a 20 year fixed rate 8% debenture, nothing hi-tech just uses waste wood product.
I received the first cash return in September, apparently power generation was somewhat below expected largely due to late installation of one of the three units.
I invested in the previous short term 12% loan (wind) with a different borrower and this has recently been extended from 12 to up to 15 months to allow for long term financing (on Abundance) to replace the initial debenture, it could be that this pattern may be repeated.

The latest NornIron batch on AC, if I recall and understand correctly, have cross guarantees. What I haven't checked is what the status is after some, but not all, have paid back. I still tried to pick the better ones. The earlier ones are from a variety of different ownerships, but there were a fair number with common ownership. They were in separate SPVs, so depending on what guarantees were made it may be possible for the borrower to walk away from a particular loan. On the other hand walking away would reduce the borrower's ability to borrow for other projects, so they have that incentive to make loans good. The only biomass I'm currently in is the digestor at AC. In that case the borrower had equity in the project.

I was employed within the Oil & Gas Industry as a final stage Process Testing/Commissioning engineer for 12 years in preparation for becoming a full time Care giver with a modest drop in income to £63 per week. During this period I was able to work in many countries playing a role in enabling "First Oil/Gas" on new Production facilities additionally on Refineries & Gas Cracking plants. Different Industry sector with this Project though however this is an engineering disciple so if I may I'm happy to share some thoughts:
a) The ArborElectroGen 45 CHP have a proven track record, their performance is top end, reliability very good. This particular model is in operation Globally and has been for over 6 years. b) The equipment was developed in Finland which is regarded as being at the forefront of developments in Biomas Technology. Finland is timber resource rich. For further reading:www.arborhp.com/c) Mananufacturer, Volter Oy (Volter) Finland. volter.fi/d) Volter will perform the onsite installation for this project. e) These units have been built and tested within their own individual containerised modules in Finland, installation upon arrival is relatively easy c/w within modest time frames. (An engineering nickname for modularised equipment is "Plug & Play"). f) The ArborElecroGen 45 CHP produces both electricity and gas the latter is used to generate heat via Biomas Boilers by a Company called 'Froeling Austria'. This Manufacturer has been in Business for over 50 years, again it's products are highly regarded. For further reading:www.froeling.com/en/products/waerme-und-strom/neu-holzverstromungsanlage-chp-50.htmlPersonal comment, in conclusion: A combination of proven technology's, leading manufactures both participating in Biomas, manufacturer participating at UK hook-up site. Experienced end client (Abundances Applicant). Would I be happy to specify this equipment? Yes. Best regards. Many thanks indeed for sharing your industry expertise with us, @magenta14 , much appreciated!

Thanks everyone for your postings. I had not heard of abundance till recently, seeing it mentioned on the forum. Just joined it as my 7th platform and dipped a toe into the biomass, so to speak. Have you used it as this years IFISA for new money?
