Is it actually as bad as I think it is? Or am I simply reacting badly because I am unused to it?

The new design is certainly a change from the old. I spotted an error on the loans page within 10 seconds where words are overlapping. I will reserve judgement for another day.

Its bold and simple - I kinda like it but then look at my hair!
Does look a little like a school project though so I hope it didn't cost too much ......

"After months of research, development, and testing, we’re thrilled to unveil our brand new look."
This exciting journey seems to have culminated in new CSS with a horrible font.
I think I'll probably continue to visit once a week to make my withdrawal.

Preferred the previous look, personally. Don't like the new font, the bold/contrasting colour combination and the vertical alignment/placement (font sizing?) looks a bit off to my eyes. Needs more pastel!

At least its only a cosmetic set of changes, the functionality seems the same
Unlike the LendInvest redesign, which was worse looking and less functional...

I get squirrely when a site stops taking cash and starts putting out changes. Tinfoil moment but what else are they up to?

/mod hat off
When when RS got 'spaced out' (in tastefully pale lilac) it was the start of the slippery slope IMO .. but then ZOPA was fairly well down the slippery slope long before then (also IMO)so maybe the new design bodes better?

Overall gives the impression of Zopa continuing its trend towards distancing itself from its founding principles - even the logo is gone, around which Zopa had previously built brand recognition... what a waste of money on all their past advertising. I guess they wanted to remove all references to the "zone of possible agreement" that plays no part in their present product.
Rather curiously my mobile device's default browser complains about an invalid security certificate, giving the message "This certificate isn't issued from a trusted authority" for the certificate for "chainsaw.zopa.com" (presumably a server that contains some of the new design elements [1], and presumably using a cheaper, but less widely-recognised certifying authority?)
My reaction on seeing the new layout on a different browser was that "design by chainsaw" seemed appropriate...
[1] looks like it's actually something to do with tracking / spying on your interactions with the site. Nothing seems to look or work any different if I block the server completely.

Quote from the email: "a bold new logo"... Given how Gleaming White the new format is I was thinking DAZ or Persil whiteness, but I guess they used BOLD instead...

I noticed the amateurish concept almost immediately. Taking my fortnightly withdrawal of repayments, Zopa cheerfully informed me that I could withdraw £125.3 rather than £125.30 and yes, I know it is mathematically correct, but I worry about Zopa's numeracy "challenged" fraternity who don't understand why that does not mean £125 and three pence. Within seconds my email arrived entitled "We're transferring your recent withdrawal now", but opening it up reveals the old truth that "now" means "3 working days". (Better than SS's understanding of the word "imminently".)

Embrace Change!
Compares well with sites with similar modern designs. Improved navigation, large fonts. Not purple!
Interesting to note the partners on the home page - especially mobile phones.
Innovation has been slow but there are signs that both Zopa and RS have reached the limits of traditional P2P, due to the extreme low interest rate environment which stops them competing with banks on price. The blurb along with the redesign suggests new efforts to increase loan demand.
Unlike other companies the new site does appear to work.

Surely it's less than a year since the introduction of the previous "new" design brought in when they introduced the new products? Why change yet again? Initial impression is that I don't like it, but then I'm an old fogey - I'll probably get used to it soon.
Anyway, I've been in "withdrawal" mode for about the last six months - don't like lending in £10 chunks at stupidly low rates.

Ah thankfully I know how to use stylish , already got rid of the horrible greyness, why do web designers never seem to consider us poor old'ns who find it harder to distinguish grey and black as opposed to white and black. Thing is they seem to think I can't read unless the text is large. On my screen I have to back off to 75% to get everything easier to read - especially the loanbook. I can't get on with the new underline indicator of a field, I find it harder to know where to click my mouse, I was clicking on password/userid text as i thought it was the indicator. Just noticed that the buttons only react if your mouse is directly on the text inside the buttons, what is that all about. The button darkens when my mouse is on it but doesn;t do anything until its in the middle on the text. Perhaps someone can design a mouse pointer the size of a finger to make it work better ;-) Edit: its not on all of the buttons so I guess someone had not designed the zone parameters properly - assuming its works that way - There are many instances of the zones being correct and many of them being incorrect. I guess the test team missed those!.
