As a relatively new user to this forum I keep wondering why the P2P sites are divided into a main board and sub-board.
This is a bit frustrating when I am interested in a few from both.
Also it seems rather a subjective decision which platforms are deemed worthy of the main board. Is promotion and relegation possible?
Personally for me it wouldn't detract from the usability of the forum if they were all listed equally!

I have a feeling there may be constraints as to how many sections are available on the main board anyway, so this is a likely reason
If one platform gets a lot of interest, then it has in the past been moved from a sub board to the main board, and i'm sure vica-versa has also happened.

I assume there is no way of creating my own personal main page with the platforms I invest with or plan to? Or an app which can achieve this!

Well, for one thing, if all the sites were on the main board most of us would have to scroll down multiple pages to get to the ones we're interested in. As it stands they (the high traffic boards) fit in two pages. One scroll click. The 28 sites that are in sub boards are the low-traffic ones.

Promotions / demotions from the main board historically were reviewed "as and when", but now that we're tracking traffic figures each quarter (see p2pindependentforum.com/post/154448/thread ) this leads to a natural quarterly review point. As the latest figures show, the main board platforms generally have an order of magnitude difference in traffic versus the Other P2X board platforms.

There is also a way to get Board/Sub-board specific notifications. In your profile, go to edit profile, notifications, at the bottom of the table is an 'add Board' function, if you select a Board a separate table appears and you can select notifications/ and or emails each time there is a new post / thread / tagging etc there. Once you've set Board specific notifications it says "These notifications will overwrite the forum-level settings for notifications generated by this board." In other words you can have different settings for different boards/sub-boards. Not sure if there is a limit on how many you can add, but I did four different ones just to experiment.

For me, when a specific board has been selected and the new table added, the Forum option for 'New Thread' and 'New Post' aren't tickable. It's partly the reason I went with the Distill solution. Is that right? Or -as is likely- am I missing something Many thanks, Ian.. For the purposes of alerts for posts or threads, the tick boxes for forum notification (pop-ups) are greyed out for both the forum as a whole and also if you select any Boards, but email notifications can be set at varying levels from instant to weekly to never. I think the idea is you would use 'new' or 'participated' for these sort of forum based notifications. You can also use 'bookmarks' which only operate at the thread level, but you could make up your own bookmark page with them and then set notifications so there's a popup notification above the 'bookmark' tab, or you receive an email. However, as with all forum notifications you need to be logged in to see them anyway, so if you are not, email notifications are probably more useful.
