I've been working on an automated index that pulls together investment volumes from all the major platforms on a daily basis and converts into GBP for comparison. It's on the first version here ( P2P Index) I'm adding more features (e.g. history) and platforms as I can, but as it has already taken a fair bit of work just to get to this point I'd be interested to see what forum members thought of it!

Saving stream... £230,309,010 That is the headline figure on the SS site, but IMHO it is misleading as It includes loans that never drewdown, and loans that rolled on from previous loans. The actual figure (sent to borrowers - by my records) is closer to £176,214,969. I'm guessing the above is also true for the other P2P platforms. Edit : Nice site BTW - is has a nice feel, and has potential to be a useful resource. I particularly like the FS calculator, something I will be using soon . Maybe to combat the above you should simply put a disclaimer stating the figures are provided by the platforms and may not be accurate .

Thanks @cooling_dude, that's a good idea to add more on the data limitations. Otherwise, it would be impossible to keep track as you've done with SS for a large number of platforms!

Some variations from the 'market leader' www.altfi.com/data/indices/UKvolume but a much wider geographical spread. As CD points out defining a common definition of what consitutes 'loan origination' will also be determining factor in the figues. Nice work. i do like what your doing and the interesting resources you are developing.

Indeed very good. Anything that helps with knowing how things are going in the industry is great. I shall keep an eye on it.

Neil, good job so far. My experience is, that if you try to fully automate it, it will break very frequently (or produce wrong numbers).

What about doing a table for the current loan book values? If you aren't too busy.

ilmoro , I think most of the variation with the Altfi index is down to data date. Thanks wiseclerk , I have a bit of logic in there that tries to catch that, but it does need a bit of hand-holding for the time being. Liz , very useful addition - it is on the list!
