I'm an Android developer and created a Companies House app based on their new Beta API. It includes much more data than the original Companies House app. It is using material design guidelines. The app is currently in Beta stage, available here for Android 5.0 (Lollipop) and above: play.google.com/apps/testing/com.babestudios.companyinfoukActually it's more like Alpha stage, because I plan to add a few more features and there are some known bugs. For example some data is not mapped to the correct format yet, so you will see fields like "**Total exemption small company accounts** made up to {made_up_date}." This will be fixed soon. There are probably a fair number of bugs. E.g. Favourites screen will crash if nothing has been added. I will fix this soon as well. The reason for showing the app to you is that I need advice on new features and possible improvements. The app is open source, you can see the issue tracker with the known bugs and planned features here: bitbucket.org/herrbert74/companies-house/issues?status=new&status=openI try to answer all the questions and recommendations once every day. I don't plan an iPhone version at this time, but anyone is welcome to convert the app to iPhone.

What extra data? More data than the website? babestudios? Not the website, only the app. I don't know why everyone is complaining about BaBe Studios. It's an acronym from my wife's and my name.

herrbert I realise I am asking a lot, and the answer is likely to be "no", because after all you're an Android developer, but I would much prefer a web app. Note this isn't a criticism, just an observation that for this kind of thing I much prefer sitting in front of a PC than using a mobile device......

Well, people are different. Some of them wants a mobile app, some of them are lucky enough to have their website: beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/

I released Beta 3 on Google Play. There are a number of fixes and improvements and I plan to add a few more enhancements in the coming weeks. An increasing number of people started to use it, but I haven't received any bug reports or feature requests. Please help me with ideas or let me know if you have any trouble using the app. On Google Play I got two automated crash reports, where the user user can add comments. When using this, please add the company name or what you were searching for as this helps me in debugging the issue. I get a stack trace from Google, so I know where it happened, but no data, so I don't know what caused the issue.

Does this have more info than company check which has nice pretty graphs and pictures etc. Company check has more info, however: My app is free. My app is not full of ads. My app is only in Beta yet. My app is an app, not a website.

Thanks for that herrbert,
Like someone earlier I'm not likely to use an app on a phone for this stuff but on my tab it might be more useful so I will be interested when its released, sadly my time does not allow me to work as a tester and my phone/tab is way too important to expose to a potentially unstable product of this nature. Thats not a criticism of anything you are doing herrbert just a safety mechanism of an ex software developer and designer.
On the ad and cost front Companycheck is free for basic stuff, and has a lot of information that is free. It may well have ads but I don't see any on my browser probably due to using adblock plus and other tools to remove such things.
As someone else said the kind of info I need would be more akin to a desktop pc but as I say I do use a tab as well.
In fact as I was writing I thought I would check out my tab on the web page for CompanyCheck and it works better than I had expected in fact I may sart using it on there - curiously I'm not sure I have an ad blocker on the tab but did not see any ads thus far.

The public version of the app is finally released on Google Play. Have a look here: Google PlayPlease help me with a five star review if you can. I still accept feature requests and suggestions as well as bug reports.

Hope it does well herrbert, good luck with it. edited: sorry for delay got distracted ...... Downloaded to my phone but not as useful to me as CompanyCheck so not for me. I'm probably not the best user though as I only use CC to check things rarely. One thing I did find annoying was the links to screen that say "no information" ( the info is not filled out) the link page could perhaps have done a quick check for this and noted it on the link page. Also it was not obvious that they were links. Perhaps having division lines as in most android apps I'm used to might have helped.(I'm not a phone user must be said though I'm a desktop luddite most of the time) On the whole its very fast and I can see it would be useful if you wanted to check the associations of a potential borrower/business, sadly I'm a zopa only user so don;t need this capability. One other thing is its not the top entry on the search on my phone anyway and there were a lot of other similar apps that fooled me at first - I had to put the exact name in the search to get to it.( I guess if I had jumped from this thread on my phone it would have been a direct hit but I don;t look at this thread on my phone. As herrbert says it is free.
